Door program for access to VGA Planets. Supports DOOR.SYS
and CALLINFO.BBS as well as offering command line support
for systems that do not use these files. Allows remote

CPLAYER to run any race not run by a user! Hosts have a
variety of options for monitoring a game or manually
operating a game, all functions are accessable locally and
remotely for host. Host access is based on BBS security

for transmission. Displays mine fields, borders, enemy
planets (based on nearest planet to enemy ships), enemy
ships and misc. planets of interest (like meteor strikes).

THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF AND KIND, EITHER
EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED
WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS OF PURPOSE. THE USER OF THIS
SOFTWARE ASSUMES ALL RISKS.
However, I will say that this software DOES work on my machine and any
problems are not intentional! I will try as much as I can to provide
quality software for a reasonable registration fee. I have two boards
running my latest version for testing at all times and I will fix any
bugs that I find as soon as reasonably possible. If you REGISTER and
send in the official bug-fix form with a diskette, I will return you a
new version (not to exceed 3 bug fixes). Due to the low price of VPLAN,
I cannot make the same promise for it if you have registered it, the
upgrade is inexpensive. Anytime a registered user sends in a bug-fix
form with a diskette and mailer with appropriate postage, the bug-fix
will be sent back immeadiatly upon making the appropriate changes no
matter how many bugs are reported by the user.
Any user willing to help with writing full documentation for R.V.P.A
should contact me. I will offer a free registered version, but as this
offer can only be given to one person, contact me first! Please list
(briefly) what kind of documentation you've written before. If I get
several offers I will take the one that I deem most like to get me the
documentation done the fastest and with the most experience in doing so!
I have never claimed to be a documentor -- I'm a programmer and I write
LOUSY documentation, so to provide the highest quality documention I am
making this offer. I have hopes to get documention out with my
registered customers by January at the very LATEST. Anyone registering
during this time will get a copy of the documentation (all on disk -- I
will not be printing copies) to them as soon as I have it and update it
to the latest version.
Thank you for your interest in R.V.P.A.

Nothing like VGA Planets has ever been tried before.
VGA Planets is a multi-player space conquest game for up to
11 players. The game is designed so that the players can play
by modem. The players calls the BBS that is acting as the game
host or a BBS that is acting as a storage site for files to and
from a remote computer playing host. The players download a
small file PLAYER?.RST ( about 2k ). The players then log off
the host BBS. The whole process can be done in under a minute.
The file contains data that is expanded into a set of data files
by a UNPACK program.
The players can then go into a VGA graphical program that uses the
DATA files to show the the player what happened last turn and to
plan out new moves, order new ships to be built and many other
activities. The player has all his fun OFFLINE where he isn't
subject to BBS time limits and isn't tying up a BBS phone line.
When a player has completed his game turn he quits the main program and
runs MAKETURN which encodes all the players data files into a
PLAYER?.TRN file. The player then calls the host BBS again and uploads
the PLAYER?.TRN file ( 24 bytes or more ) in a matter of seconds.
Sometime very late at night (in most cases) the BBS gathers up ALL the
PLAYER?.TRN files for a game and moves them into the HOST directory.
The HOST.EXE program gobbles up all the PLAYER?.TRN files at once and
feeds them into the universe's main data files ( *.HST ). The HOST.EXE
program then gathers up all information important to each player in
the game and forms a new set of PLAYER?.RST files ( one for each player )
which are then moved to a download directory, so that the players can
play out another game turn tomorrow.
If you would like to play DEMO game, just INSTALL the game to your
hard drive and type DEMO.
Or you can run the following programs.
MKDIR TEST 'make test, a sub directory
MASTER TEST 'make a test universe in the sub directory
HOST TEST 'make the games first set of RST files
UNPACK TEST 'convert the RST files to data files
PLANETS TEST 'PLAY!
MAKETURN TEST 'convert data files into TRN files
/--> HOST TEST 'convert all TRN files into RST files
| UNPACK TEST 'convert the RST files to data files
| PLANETS TEST 'PLAY!
| MAKETURN TEST 'convert data files into TRN files

variety of options for monitoring a game or manually
operating a game, all functions are accessable locally and
remotely for host. Host access is based on BBS security
level! Automatic host may be 24 hour or "challenge" mode
-- Challenge mode will run host EVERY time all players
have turns in that have joined the game, even 10 times a
day!
VPlan VGA Planets Planer.
Player utility that will simplify game operation by
unpacking your RST file, displaying a full screen map
of the universe with all ships/planets displayed,
allow you to play your turn and then pack it all up
for transmission. Displays mine fields, borders, enemy
planets (based on nearest planet to enemy ships), enemy
ships and misc. planets of interest (like meteor strikes).
THIS PROGRAM DOES NOT CHEAT! No information provided is
not available from within the game -- the player must
supply some information like planets of interest and mine
fields.
