INSTRUCTIONS FOR MARCH 1990 DISK-OF-THE-MONTH

NOTE: All of the following macros must be copied into the directory where
your other macro files are kept. WARNING! If you already have macros with
the same name, you must rename the macros found on this disk before they are
copied onto your hard drive or your original macros will be overwritten.

Included on this disk are the following files that will work in WordPerfect
5.0 and/or 5.1, where specified:

ALTP.WPM (5.0 macro) - This macro moves the cursor to the top of the document
and inserts an automatic page numbering code that suppresses page
numbers, headers and footers on the first page of your document and
places the page number in the top center of all subsequent pages. To
invoke the macro press (Alt-P). (See "Chocolate Chip Macros," March '90,
page 13.)

LETTER.FRM (5.0 or 5.1 file) - This file contains formatting codes for a
letter. It is retrieved by invoking the (Alt-L) macro. In LETTER.FRM
the page is centered top to bottom, left and right margins are set at
1.5" and 1.16", and a date is inserted followed by four hard returns. To
edit the file, press Retrieve (Shift-F10) and type letter.frm. Press
Reveal Codes (Alt-F3), add or delete codes as desired, then save and
replace the file. Note: This file must be in your default directory
(F5). (See "Chocolate Chip Macros," March '90, page 13.)

ALTL.WPM (5.0 or 5.1 macro) - This macro retrieves LETTER.FRM and places the
cursor in the correct position to begin typing. To invoke this macro,
press (Alt-L). (See "Chocolate Chip Macros," March '90, page 13.)

FORMAT.WPM (5.0 or 5.1 macro) - This macro performs two Search and Replace
sequences. It first searches for all occurrences of "1989" and replaces
it with "1990." Next, the macro searches for two Tab codes ([Tab][Tab])
and replaces them with one Tab code ([Tab]). To invoke this macro, press
Macro (Alt-F10), type format and press (Enter). To customize the macro,
press Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), type format, (Enter), (2) Edit and (2)
Action (in 5.0). Move the cursor to desired location, make the changes,
then press Exit (F7) twice in 5.0, once in 5.1 to return to your document
screen. (See "Chocolate Chip Macros," March '90, page 13.)

ATTR.WPM (5.0 or 5.1 macro) - This macro searches for underlined text and
converts it to bolded text. Place cursor before the code to be changed,
or if changing all occurrences, place cursor at the top of the document
by pressing (Home), (Home), (Home), (Up Arrow). If you want to replace
all underline codes with bold, press (Esc) and type in a large number
(i.e. 1000). Then press Macro (Alt-F10), type attr and press (Enter). To
customize the macro, press Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), type attr, (2) Edit,
(2) Action (in 5.0). After the first {Search} code, delete the underline
code, press Font (Ctrl-F8), type 2 (for Appearance), then the number of
the attribute to be replaced (i.e., (4) Italics). After the third
{Search} code, repeat the same keystrokes twice. After the fourth
{Search} code, press Font (Ctrl-F8), type 2 (for Appearance), then the
number of the attribute you want inserted (i.e., (1) Bold). Press Exit
(F7) twice (once in 5.1). (See "Chocolate Chip Macros," March '90, page
13.)

LISTMAC.WPM (5.0 or 5.1 Macro) - This macro temporarily displays the file,
MACRO.LST. After typing a list and description of your macros, save the
file as MACRO.LST. Note: MACRO.LST must be in your (F5) default
directory. LISTMAC.WPM will retrieve this file and pause while you
scroll through the list. After you press (Enter), the cursor will return
to its original position. To invoke this macro, press Macro (Alt-F10),
type listmac and press (Enter). (See "Tips of the Trade," March '90,
page 56.)

ALTD.WPM (5.0 or 5.1 Macro) - This macro superscripts a degree symbol (). To
use this macro, place your cursor in the desired position, and press
(Alt-D). (See "Tips of the Trade," March '90, page 56.)

INV.WPM (5.1 Macro) - This macro helps automate invoices by inserting common
information. To invoke the macro, press Macro (Alt-F10), type inv, and
press (Enter). The macro inserts the date and displays several prompts
which request information. Type the information requested and press
(Enter). To customize the macro, press Macro Define (Ctrl-F10), type
inv, press (Enter), (2) Edit, make the necessary changes and press Exit
(F7). (See "Magnificent Macros," March '90, page 49.)

ULPH.WPM (5.1 Macro) - This macro automatically underlines a specified number
of words in a phrase. To invoke the macro, position the cursor on the
first letter of the first word in the phrase, press Macro (Alt-F10), type
ulph and press (Enter). At the prompt, type the number of words (1 to 9)

in the phrase and press (Enter). The macro then underlines the number of
words specified. Punctuation marks at the end of the phrase are not
underlined. (See "Magnificent Macros," March '90, page 49.)

PRODUCT.TBL (5.1 Table) - This file is a production schedule created with the
Table feature in 5.1. It can be customized by joining or splitting the
cells to suit your own time frame and work schedule. To edit the table,
retrieve the file, place the cursor inside the table, press Columns/Table
(Alt-F7), move the cursor to the first cell you want to join and press
Block (Alt-F4). Block all cells that are to be joined and press (7)
Join, (Y) Yes. To split the cell your cursor is in, press (8) Split, (1)
Row or (2) Cell, type 2 (or number of times to be split) and press
(Enter). When you have completed customizing the table, save and replace
PRODUCT.TBL. (See "Clowns, Cabinets and 5.1 Tables," March '90, page
17.)

The following files are for use with PlanPerfect 5.0.

PRNCOST.PLN (PlanPerfect 5.0 Worksheet) - This worksheet is designed to help
manage printing costs. PRNCOST.PLN contains several formulas and can be
used to provide optimum cost estimates for any multiple-page printing
job. Retrieve PRNCOST.PLN into PlanPerfect and edit according to your
needs. (See "Freedom of the Press," March '90, page 26.)

ALTC.PLM (PlanPerfect 5.0 Macro) - This time-saving macro was designed to be
used with PRNCOST.PLN (above). It will copy the contents of a cell to
the cell immediately below it, replacing the four keystrokes normally
required and moving the cursor down to the next line. PlanPerfect macros
are executed the same as WordPerfect macros. (Copy this macro into your
PlanPerfect macro directory.) To invoke the macro, place the cursor in
the correct cell and press (Alt-C) as many times as needed. (See
"Freedom of the Press," March '90, page 26.)
