The original shareware BROWSE.COM was written in 1986 to display pure ASCII
files using the PgUp and PgDn keys to move through the file and the Esc key
to exit. This newly updated version adds a number of features:

HELP - IN BROWSE -
F1 : display this help menu
F5 : diz next page segment & address
F10 : go to EDMOD at 9000H:8000H
Esc : exit to DOS> prompt
Enter or - : up a page or down a page
Home : move to start of file
End : move to end of file (if ASCII)
Down Arrow: move down a line (if ASCII)
.COM.EXE.OBJ.PCX files may go anywhere
in memory using the Enter or - keys

- IN EDMOD (use mouse/keyboard) <-- NOTE: Please read TUTORIAL.DOC.
F1 : return to Browse You may also go to EDMOD from
F2 : toggle modify mode on and off the command line DOS> prompt by
F3 : hex modify (in modify mode) typing GOEDMOD and press enter.
F5 : change seg (0 to F) modify off
F10 : zero displayed page !careful!
Arrows: move cursor (in modify mode)
Esc : exit to DOS> prompt
Keypad+: disassemble (in modify mode) <-- about 85% accurate 8086 code
S : search memory (modify mode off)
Enter or - : up 1024 or down 1024 " <-- hyphen key below underline

BROWSE.COM may reside in any directory/subdirectory you wish. If you wish
to use F1 = Help and F10 = EDMOD, both HELP.DOC and EDMOD.OBJ 'MUST' reside
in drive C's C:\DEMO subdirectory. INSTALL will create this subdirectory and
move them + all files there. UNINSTAL will delete them + the subdirectory.
The program requires DOS 3.3 or up + an 80286 or up + minimum of 640K memory.

If you wish to browse ANY variety of file up to 557,120 bytes in length (only
short TSRs less than 50K bytes may be resident), consisting of ASCII files
(with or without line feeds) or .COM or .EXE or .OBJ or .PCX files, then type:

BROWSE :\\ and press enter; i.e.,
BROWSE C:\ALEX\TOUCH\EXTRA\TEXT.ASM and press enter or:
BROWSE C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT and press enter or:
BROWSE D:\MY\PBRUSH5\GRAPHIC1.PCX and press enter.

The BROWSE.ASM source code is included on this disk. Modify it any way you
wish using EDLIN.COM and assemble it with A86.COM, the world's fastest 8086/
80286 assembler, available from all competent shareware distributors; i.e.,
type A86 +LS BROWSE.ASM to assemble your newly rewritten BROWSE.COM.

The enclosed EDLIN.COM is a custom version that works with DOS 3.0 through
DOS 6.0 and holds files 33% larger than DOS 5.0's EDLIN.COM.

If you find this program of value, send $10 to:
