About XTWGTSY.DLL
-----------------

This new version of the file XTWGTSY.DLL fixes a problem that occurs when
you run XTree for Windows on video display adapters that can show
more than 256 colors simultaneously (i.e., greater than 8-bit color).
On such displays, XTreeWin's tool palette graphics and the icons displayed
inside tree and directory windows were erroneously drawn in black-and-white.
This new XTWGTSY.DLL causes these graphics to be correctly displayed in color.

Product versions
----------------
The new XTWGTSY.DLL included in this release must only be used with
XTree for Windows version 1.00 and 1.01. Please refer to the XTree
for Windows About box to obtain the product version number.

Installation
------------

IMPORTANT: Don't use XTree for Windows to install the file, and make sure
that XTree for Windows isn't running when you do this. Although this would
work in most instances, it is dangerous to change a .EXE or .DLL file
belonging to any running program.

The new XTWGTSY.DLL file is installed by simply copying it into the directory
containing the XTree for Windows program, replacing the older version of
XTWGTSY.DLL. From the DOS command line, for example, issue the following
command:

COPY A:\XTWGTSY.DLL C:\XTREEWIN

In this example, "A:\" is the directory containing the new XTWGTSY.DLL file
and "C:\XTREEWIN" is the directory in which XTree for Windows was installed.

Special note for users of Orchid Fahrenheit 1280 display adapters:
------------------------------------------------------------------

In researching this problem, we discovered a bug in this adapter that will
cause one of the tools in the tool palette and all of the icons in the
tree and directory windows to be drawn wrong (though they are drawn in
color) when using a mode with 32768 colors or more. This problem has
been described to Orchid and it affects other applications too, notably
Windows Paintbrush.
