INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROGRAM:

Purpose : This program's intention is to assist:

- system managers
- multiple users who have their own individual
configurations
- single users who wish more flexibility in the
configuration of their system

Files : Delivered are:

BOOT.EXE - main program
BOOT.TXT - what you read right now

All other files will, if not found, be created
automatically.
(In the shareware version, I've included the files
BOOT.DAT and BOOT.DBT though, to show you some examples.
Don't boot them at once. Take your time to evaluate, edit,
and eventually delete them.)

System : MS-DOS > version 3.0, or DR-DOS
Harddisk
360 KB RAM
Any videocard

Install : The program must be in a subdirectory named C:\BOOT

In order to be able to call the program from anywhere, you
just have to include PATH C:\BOOT; in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.

OBS: To activate AUTOBOOT, you MUST have a copy of
COMMAND.COM in your root directory!!! And further please
check, that the configurations match your needs.




Usage : In the main menu you've got five options.

BOOT : Select a special configuration and boot it

ARCHIVES : Gives you a submenu

NEW : Create a new configuration
EDIT : Edit a selected configuration
DELETE : Delete a selected configuration

AUTOBOOT : Gives you a submenu

ACTIVATE : Activates the boot menu
at boot time
DEACTIVATE : Deactivates the boot menu
at boot time

LICENSE : Gives you a submenu

LICENSE : Name of the user
REGISTRATION: Print out the registration
form and mail it to me
PASSWORD : As soon as the transaction
has taken place, you'll get
the password

INFO : Read or print what you're reading right now

LANGUAGES: USA - German - English - French - Spanish

QUIT : Back out ending the program without booting

OBSERVE: You MUST fill in the exact data before you print out the
registration. After your registration, you'll receive a
password to get rid of the "commercial". After that, you'll
no longer be able to change the data.

ABOUT MICE & MEN: You can click the mouse anywhere. When you click the
Triple Bar (), it equals an ESC.

At some points the mouse cursor is off. You can
still use the mouse in this way: The left button
equals ENTER, the right button equals ESC.

This is for your central nervous system:

Don't get worried. Absolutely nothing happens to your
beloved computer, as long as you don't boot.

Now, if you boot, something in fact happens. (This is
absolutely intended. Wouldn't it be funny to run a
program, that does absolutely nothing?)

So when you boot with a selected configuration, make
sure the configuration is valid. The configuration will
be copied to CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT respectively
followed by an immediate warmboot.

Once the program has booted for you, it remembers the
current configuration you've used.

OBS: Your boot partition IS NOT manipulated!!!

So don't worry, be happy! This is a great tool!




SHAREWARE : Feel free to find out if I'm right.
This is a shareware version and no crippleware.
I expect YOU to make up your mind after a month
of testing.

MONO : In case you have a LCD Display (Laptops etc.) or a VGA
Monochrome Monitor, you can force a monochrome display with
the parameter "m", i.e. BOOT M



A COMMENT : To all users flipping out over the "commercial",
consider this:

To the user, who can't (or should I say "won't") use
BootMaster, this will not be causing any trouble at all.

But to those, who use BootMaster with (increasing)
energy, it will finally cause frustrations.
These users should register, to regain sanity
(and legality).
Well, that's what shareware is all about...
