Do the following steps to make Ms Windows 3.1 run in standard and
enhanced mode in a OS2 VDM. It will not affect the Ms Windows
behaviour under plain DOS except for the mouse driver, which has to be
changed. It will run just as fine under DOS as under OS2!

To make this fix work you need to have OS2 2.0 GA or better, and Ms
Windows 3.1. If you do not have installed Windows, you have to boot DOS
and install it in the usual way. To do this you have to have a FAT
partition which can be seen by DOS.

WARNING: SOME PEOPLE EXPERIENCE PROBLEM WHEN THEY INSTALL MS WINDOWS
3.1 ON AN OS2 SYSTEM. IT SEEMS LIKE THE WINDOWS SETUP PROGRAM ALTERS
SOME OS2 FILES. The best way to do the installation is to use a BACKUP
of Windows from a DOS system, and RESTORE it on the OS2 system. If you
do it this way you don't have to boot DOS. If your OS2 system is
placed on a HPFS partion and you have an additional FAT partition, you
don't have to consider this warning.

When you have installed windows in the C:\WINDOWS directory do the
following:

1. UNZIP the file.
2. copy WINOS2.COM to the c:\windows directory.
3. copy MOUSE.DRV, OS2GDI.EXE, OS2USER.EXE AND OS2K386.EXE
to the c:\windows\system directory.
4. Load C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI into a text editor.
5. Find the line containing the mouse driver indicator
(search for "mouse"), alter the line after the equal
sign to MOUSE.DRV, and save the file.
6. Make a WPS object pointing to WINOS2.COM, if you want to
run in enhanced mode include /3 in the parameter box.

You may want to alter your PATH in AUTOEXEC.BAT to include C:\WINDOWS.
This completes the installation. Hopefully it will work as good for
you as it did for me. I do not take any responsibilities in any form
or shape, but feel fre to mail any questions to me.
