SCANNER is an icon driven program to aid in locating specific frequencies
and various topics accessible on scanners and multiband radios.

The arrow keys move to highlight the different icons. A 'RETURN/ENTER'
activates your choice and displays the appropriate information. Only a few
of the icon require explanation.

The Question Mark allows you to enter either a frequency or topic not
covered on the icons.
For example: if you wish to search for security, shopping facilities, or
state operated topics, you could enter SECURITY, SHOP, or STATE.

The Question Mark 2 is similiar, but adds a more selctive touch. It permits
the searching for data conforming to two different masks.
For example: their are numerous police frequencies. It would still be a
task to manually search through all of them for a desired information.

Question Mark 2 a this selectivity. The first topic could be POLICE, while
the second topic could be HERNDON. Only those items matching BOTH Police
and Herndon would be displayed.

SCANNER can optionally be run with the /b option. This prints the output in
black & white, and also allows for redirection. Per DOS specifications,
the > redirects output to the device that follows. >> will append the output
to the end of an existing file.

Examples:

SCANNER /B > LIST.TXT
SCANNER /B >> LIST.TXT
SCANNER /B > PRN

Even though it is sometimes difficult to locate new active frequencies and
users, it is more difficult to determine when old frequencies are being
discarded. Therfore, as of Dec. 1, 1990 I am marking known active frequencies
with the symbol "*". After a period of time, I will remove the obsolete
frequencies from my list.

SCANNER is provided free of charge. However, no alteration/modification is
allowed except for the frequency list - SCANNER.TXT. Nor can any charge be
collected for its distribution. The program, data, and all related data is
NOT guarenteed to be correct, complete, or even operational on all equipment.
