THE STAFF PRODUCT FAMILY

dBASE III Plus Compatible Database Management Tools

The software modules belonging to the STAFF product family are
the following:

GROUP 1 (now shipping)

- STAFF is the main module of the DBMS product family
related to the dBASE III group of products, and it is a data-
base management utility and simple application generator for
data intensive tasks. The most important functions of STAFF
are: Create new database files, Modify the structure of exist-
ing database files, Data Entry and Editing of the content of
existing database files, Fast Find function for indexed infor-
mation, Find any information by means of sequential search,
Search and Replace of character strings, Build up of complex
relational database structures by means of the very powerful
dBLOOKUP feature, Complex filtering and sorting function,
Export and Import to and from various file formats, Statistics
of the numeric information stored in the database file, Data-
base Statistics for the optimization of the file size, various
database housekeeping functions, user defined macros, built in
report and label generator, and many more. It solves the
MEMO fields problems by allowing the direct access of ASCII
files from within a character field. The files are dBASE III
compatible. It comes bundled with PC-MUNDO, a collection of 6
Data Base files containing statistical information of 162
countries and 590 cities of the world.

- STAFF-GRAF - Data stored in all or selected records of a DBF
file can directly be plotted on the screen, printer or plotter
in one or more of the types: Line, Marks, Bar, Stacked Bar, Pie,
High-Low. Graphs can be stored on disk in PCX format. The
orientation of graphs can be portrait or landscape. Over 70
printer and plotters are supported. Titles and a legend can be
defined. Scaling can be manual or automatic (logarithmic too).
Up to six functions can be plotted on one graph. A background
grid can be generated.

- STAFF-REPORT - Data belonging to a primary and several related
secondary DBF files can be printed into one report. Several
printing formats can be generated, stored and documented for each
primary file. Report generation editor with on screen selection of
related DBF fields. The selection of records to be printed is
possible using a simple filtering or a complex query procedure.
Report can be sent to printer, screen, or to a file on disk.
Up to 3 lines for titles, 3 lines for footer, and 17 lines for the
header.

- STAFF-UTIL - Set of utilities for DBF maintenance: DBF file
size optimization; Breaking down DBF files according to record
number, in equal size parts, maximum capacity per file; Backup
& restore of DBF files; File compression & decompression;
Encryption & decryption; Viewing DBF files; File translation to
and from: LOTUS 123, MULTIPLAN, SUPERCALC, dBASE II, DIF, CSV,
ASCII, Wordstar Mailmerge; Updating of the information stored
in a DBF file by using as input another DBF file with a common
structure.

- STAFF-MASK - Allows you to create without traditional
programming effort masks for data entry, viewing, and editing.
The data entry cells can be set up for data validation purposes.
Data entry can be performed using the classic double entry mode and
automatic checking, giving the possibility of correction.
Filtering and powerful queries allow efficient data retrieval
for viewing and editing purposes. The dBLOOKUP allows an
efficient data entry and viewing system by showing other DBFs
as data tables.

- STAFF-INTEGRATOR - is a general purposed menu generator which
allows the integration of different software tools according to
the priorities of the user. The program consists of two
modules: a menu generator and a run time module for the
execution of the menus. An unlimited number of menus can be
created. Each menu can have up to 32 entries. Chains of menus
can be defined. Virus control function. Parameters (like path,
file name, drive specifier, etc.) can be passed over. Mouse
support. Log file....

- STAFF-KICK - is the TSR version of STAFF-BASE. It is
recommendable to be used in parallel with spreadsheets, word
processors, or large applications. Extended or expanded memory
is identified automatically and swapping from and to any
application is instantaneous. When no extended or expanded
memory is available the swapping is taking place between the
hard disk and the memory, resulting in a slower implementation.
Dialing can be performed when the cursor is placed on a valid
phone number....

- STAFF-DIAL allows dialing any telephone number stored in a DBF
file. The program is developed for the German telephone system,
however it can be used anywhere if a Hayes compatible modem is
installed. Features: unlimited size of telephone directory
(limited only by the hard disk storage), fast find of indexed
information (any field can be indexed), file name and column
for dialing can be set up as default, time & cost control,
every call can be registered to a log file, can operate as
TSR, call scheduling...

- STAFF DEVELOPER PACKAGE - This is for the developer of database
applications who want to bundle one of the STAFF-FAMILY members
with his data. The software is delivered with the license for the
unlimited distribution of the respective RunTime version as part
of the specific application. The free distribution license for the
RunTime version of each STAFF module costs US$ 399.00. This is
advantageous for data vendors and for organizations in which
large amounts of the same data are used on many PC's.

- STAFF-VIEW - The DBF-View is a dBASE III file viewer that
allows the user to see the Database structure and/or the contents.
With DBF-View it is possible to open a DBF file with a selected
Index. Included with this program are seven utilities:

COPIAS:A copy program that optimizes diskette usage.
FREE :Displays the free Disk space.
FRAM :Displays the amount of free RAM.
FL :A listing program.
SEAREP:Search/replaces text in many files.
FQ :Batch enhancer.
FDUMP :File Dumper (EBCDIC,HEX,ASCII).


GROUP 2 (Under development)

- STAFF-TEXT - Is designed to permit the generation of text
or card templates and combine these with information stored in
dBASE files. The DBF field names are embedded in the text simi-
larly to the Wordstar-Mailmerge variables. A powerful filtering
and query facilities are available.

- STAFF-DIALOG - Is a utility for the customization of STAFF
and all other programs belonging to the STAFF series. This
customization is referring to the language used for the menus
or for giving the user the possibility to modify the dialogue
text according to his own requirements.

- STAFF-COMM - Is performing data transmission via modem and
telephone lines. The communication protocols supported are:
XMODEM, V23, V24.

- STAFF-CALC - Is enabling the execution of complex calcula-
tions with data stored in dBASE format. Adequate for engine-
ering, statistical, and financial calculations with very large
amounts of data stored in dBASE format.

- STAFF-SEARCH - Free text search of information stored in
dBASE or in standard ASCII files. Up to eight logically related
search keys can be defined for the text search. Recommended for
the search and retrieval of very large text files stored on
hard disk or optical media like CD-ROM or WORM.
