SERVICE PACK ADVANCE INFORMATION

IBM intends to produce two versions of a Service Pack for OS/2 2.0.
One version will contain fixes for OS/2 2.0 and will include the
32-bit Graphics Engine, which will replace the 16-bit Graphics Engine
when the Service Pack is installed. The second version of the Service
Pack will only contain fixes for OS/2 2.0. Both of these Service Packs
are designed to be applied to the OS/2 2.0 product as released in April,
1992. However, they will be mutually exclusive; only one of them can
be applied. If you apply the version containing the 32-bit Graphics
Engine and later decide that you do not want it, you would have to
reinstall the original OS/2 2.0 and then apply the second version of
the Service Pack without the 32-bit Graphics Engine.

The version of the Service Pack containing the 32-bit Graphics Engine
is targeted to be available electronically at the end of September via
IBM LINK OS/2 BBS, CIS, NSC BBS, INTERNET, IBM CANADA OS2BBS, and other
external sources. Diskette availability will depend on manufacturing
schedules and constraints. The target is currently the middle of
October.

The version of the Service Pack without the 32-bit Graphics Engine is
targeted to be available electronically around the end of October/EARLY
November, with diskette availability approximately two weeks later.

The APAR's currently available for inclusion in the Service Packs are
listed below. Please bear in mind that this is a preliminary list.
IBM continues to make and test additional fixes and currently has fixes
for 60-80 additional APARs in final code and test. APARs will be added
as testing completes.

Please use the following information for your planning purposes, and not
as a commitment to deliver any specific APAR, or to guarantee any
specific delivery date.

Full Service Pack contents, delivery mechanisms, and availability will
be announced once the Service Packs are completed and schedules are
formalized.
