TELEGARD ADVANCED PROTOCOL INSTALLATION PACKAGE
Version 4 to Version 5 Upgrade

By Martin Pollard - January 22, 1990

**NOTE** If you are installing this package for the first time,
please read the PROTOCOL.DOC file for instructions.
This file is only for persons that have installed
Version 4 of this package and wish to upgrade to
Version 5.

UPGRADING FROM VERSION 4 TO VERSION 5
_______________________________________

Version 5 has these enhancements over Version 4:

* The Puma, SEAlink, SEAlink Overdrive, TransLink and
WXmodem protocols are now implemented.

* Yet ANOTHER problem with PROTOCOL.DAT is now fixed...
the Ymodem Batch download definition now works
properly.

Follow these steps to perform the upgrade:

1. UnZIP the TGPROT5.ZIP package into your main BBS
directory.

2. Type "UPGRADE" and press . This runs a batch
file that automatically performs the upgrade.

That's it!

UPGRADING FROM EARLIER VERSIONS
_________________________________

The easiest way to upgrade from earlier versions of the protocol
package is to delete all the files associated with the old
package and install Version 5 from scratch. This ensures that
you have all the latest versions of the protocol programs, as
well as all the latest bug fixes in PROTOCOL.DAT. (Since the
package has changed so much, detailed instructions on converting
from earlier versions would be impractical.)

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
