This improved PICTURE LABEL program prints graphic images from either
PrintMaster, PrintShop or "The New PrintShop" graphics libraries on the
left hand side of address labels along with the text in one easy
operation. You can of course use any custom graphics created with these
programs or the many graphics available through Bulletin Boards or
various Public Domain access methods. PICTURE LABEL is a stand alone
program and does not require either PrintShop or PrintMaster. Only the
graphics libraries are required. Included on the PICTURE LABEL disk are
some Public Domain sample graphics in the PrintMaster format to get you
going or to add to your present collection of graphics.

PICTURE LABEL is totally menu driven and self-explanatory with a number
of new features which have been added to make it more convenient and
very user friendly.

Please note that a graphics display adapter (CGA, Hercules or better) is
required to run PICTURE LABEL.

The added features of Version 2.1 are:

1) The first time user is lead through a setup procedure that stores
your selection of the following default information in a data file
(PLCONFIG.DAT) that is automatically used by PICTURE LABEL whenever
the program is run:

Color or Monochrome display,

Data Drive and Path designation,

Graphic Type normally used (PrintMaster/PrintShop),

Printer driver selection,

Initial graphic image to be loaded at start-up,

Label size and

One complete set of address lines.

2) Four label heights are supported: 15/16", 1-7/16", 1-15/16" and
2-15/16". These relate to top-edge-of-label to top-edge-of-label
spacings of 1", 1.5", 2" and 3". The width of text can be up to 5".
As with earlier versions, only one across label stock is supported.

3) PICTURE LABEL now supports the standard 6 lines per inch spacing
providing up to 5 lines on a 1" label.

4) Selection of graphics libraries is done with a single screen and
cursor movements instead of typing in the library name.

5) On screen viewing of 12 graphics images at one time during selection
of the graphic.

6) Support of special printing features such as Font selection, Double
Wide, Double High, Italics and Enhanced printing with many Epson,
Fujitsu, IBM and Panasonic printers or compatibles.

7) PICTURE LABEL now allows you to save label address data with the
fonts and printing enhancements to a disk file for later use.

PICTURE LABEL works with all the dot matrix printers that are listed on
the "Printer Selection Menu" including the 24 pin letter quality
printers. If your dot matrix printer is not listed but will emulate an
Epson FX, Epson LQ or an IBM Graphics or ProPrinter it should work by
selecting the appropriate Epson or IBM printer. Try various printer
selections and see what works for your printer.

PICTURE LABEL will not work with Okidata or Toshiba printers in their
"native", non-IBM compatible mode. The Toshiba driver will
automatically select the IBM emulation. Epson or IBM compatibles must
be able to use the double density low speed graphics mode.

PICTURE LABEL now allows complete selection of NLQ or LQ print style if
your printer has that capability. Depending on the printer you may also
be able to use your printer's "Front Panel" controls to provide
additional font and character spacing commands or to utilize downloaded
fonts or font cards. Please consult your printer manual for details.

If your dot matrix printer is not supported or the fonts are not fully
supported, see the Customer Support Section on the last page of this
manual.

Got a Large Mailing list? PICTURE LABEL can be used to "pre-print" just
the graphics on your label stock. Then you can use your DataBase or
Mail Label program to print the address lines.

SINGLE FLOPPY DRIVE USERS

1) Copy the PICLABEL.EXE file onto a work disk and store the original
for safe keeping.

2) BEFORE doing the First Time Installation you MUST copy the graphics
library that contains your choice of default graphic image onto the
work disk (see Section 4 for detailed instructions). - OR - copy
PICLABEL.EXE onto your graphics library disk and use that as your
work disk.

3) Boot the program in Drive A: using the work disk by typing PICLABEL
at the DOS A:\ prompt and press .

4) First Time installation will write a configuration file to the work
disk with all of your default selections.

5) For normal operation after completing the first time setup, you may
remove the work disk from Drive A: when the program has finished
loading.

NOTE: Your work disk must be in the drive anytime you wish to change the
default setup.

FLOPPY DISK USERS WITH 2 DRIVES

1) Copy the PICLABEL.EXE file onto a work disk and store the original
for safe keeping.

2) Boot the program in Drive A: using the work disk by typing PICLABEL
at the DOS A:\ prompt and press .

3) First Time installation will write a configuration file to the work
disk with all of your default selections.

NOTE: In order to make the default graphic available to PICTURE LABEL
each time it is run you must place your data disk in Drive B:
before you boot PICLABEL or you can copy the default graphic onto
the work disk so that it is always available. The default graphic
can have a different drive\path location than your default data
drive\path.

I recommend that you copy the default graphic library onto your
work disk to avoid errors on startup. See Section 3 on Default
Libraries for more details.

4) You will normally run the work disk in Drive A: and place your data
disks in Drive B:.

HARD DRIVE USERS

1) Copy the PICLABEL.EXE file onto your hard drive in the same
subdirectory as your graphics libraries.

2) Boot the program from that subdirectory by typing PICLABEL at the
DOS C:\\ prompt and press .

3) First Time installation will write a configuration file to the work
disk with all of your default selections.

In order to make the most efficient use of the label, PICTURE LABEL has
been rewritten to use the standard 6 lines per inch spacing. This
allows up to 5 address lines on the standard 15/16" high label.

The ENTER ADDRESS MENU for PICTURE LABEL now provides for the selection
of 4 different label sizes (height):

15/16", 1-7/16", 1-15/16" and 2-15/16"

These relate to top-edge-of-label to top-edge-of-label spacings of 1",
1.5", 2" and 3". The width of text can be up to 60 characters. As with
earlier versions, only one across label stock is supported.

Another new feature of PICTURE LABEL Version 2.1 is Font Selection and
print attributes for Epson, IBM, Panasonic and compatible printers.
Each line of text can have a different font and/or printer attributes
like double wide, bold or italic. This feature is accessed from the
ENTER ADDRESS MENU using the Function Keys. Again, everything is menu
driven to make it easy. Note that not all combinations of fonts and
attributes are allowed by the printer so try out your choice on just 1
label or on plain paper before printing a large quantity of labels.
When changing from one font to another or eliminating a print attribute,
the first item on the new font line should be RESET. Then completely
define the font combination desired for that line. Remember that font
control carries over from the last line of a label to the first line of
the next label printed so RESET should be the first item on the first
line of every label with multiple fonts.

A powerful new feature of Version 2.1 is the ability to save all of the
address information to a disk file for later use. The information saved
includes the label size, all of the address lines and the font and print
enhancements. Once the ENTER ADDRESS MENU information has been filled
in, you simply press the Function key for Save Label, fill in the file
name and the label is saved to the current path. Anytime you want to
print that label again, press the Function key for Load Label and a
directory of saved labels will be displayed for recall. Be sure to use
meaningful file names when you save labels so that the directory listing
will allow you to easily locate the desired label.

D E F A U L T G R A P H I C S

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since most of us use one graphic image a lot more than any other, one of
the convenient features of Version 2 is the automatic loading of a
default graphic each time PICTURE LABEL is run. However, this means
that the graphic MUST be available at the time PICTURE LABEL is loaded.

If you are using PICTURE LABEL on a HARD DRIVE system, this is no
problem since all your graphics are on the same drive as the program.

But if you're working on a SINGLE FLOPPY DRIVE system you MUST copy the
graphic library that contains your default graphic onto the PICTURE
LABEL work disk BEFORE you run the program for the first time.

1) Use your PrintMaster or PrintShop programs to review your graphics
and decide which you will use as a default and note the name of the
graphic library file.

2) With the graphic library file disk in your drive use the DOS Copy
command as follows:

For PrintMaster Graphics:

At the A:\ prompt type COPY {LibraryName}.S?? B:
and press

(substituting the actual Library Name for {LibraryName} above)

For PrintShop Graphics:

At the A:\ prompt type COPY {LibraryName}.NAM B:
and press

Then type COPY {LibraryName}.DAT B:
and press

(substituting the actual Library Name for {LibraryName} above)

- 8 -

For "The New PrintShop" Graphics:

At the A:\ prompt type COPY {LibraryName}.PNM B:
and press

Then type COPY {LibraryName}.POG B:
and press

(substituting the actual Library Name for {LibraryName} above)

If you must minimize the disk space occupied by the default graphic, you
can use the PrintMaster Drawing Pad or the PrintShop Graphics Editor to
save just your graphic to a separate file called:

"CUSTOM.SDR" and "CUSTOM.SHP" by PrintMaster

"GRCUSTOM.NAM" and "GRCUSTOM.DAT" by PrintShop

"{your choice}.PNM" and "{your choice}.POG" by "The New PrintShop"

Then copy these files to the work disk.

S E C T I O N 5

I N S T R U C T I O N S F O R

U S E R S OF "T h e N e w P r i n t S h o p"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new high resolution graphics available in "The New PrintShop" must
be converted to small size, low resolution graphics before they can be
used in PICTURE LABEL. This is done by loading them into the Graphic
Editor and saving them to disk in a separate file.

The resulting printed graphic image is about the same resolution that
"The New PrintShop" gives you for any small size graphic so nothing is
lost.
