The Business Opportunities programs are designed to allow the
sales manager to keep up to date on sales leads that have a high
probability of becoming an order. All functions are started from
the main menu with the exception of deletions. Deletions are
handled from the command level of dBASE to eliminate the
possibility of a clerk from deleting erroneously the incorrect
lead.
Output is provided in three basic formats:
A. A detailed listing sorted by HOUSEREP (ie. the internal
contact person) and the required follow up date.
B. A detailed listing sorted by REPRESENTATIVE (ie. the
outside contact person or salesperson) and the required
follow up date.
C. A follow-up form triggered by the follow up date that
is used to remind the salesperson to follow up and is
also used to update the record.
In typical use, the system is designed to be run once a period
which can be adjusted to be any convenient period of time. As
shipped, the system is set up for a one week period and any
follow-ups due within the next week will be printed when this
function is selected from the main menu.
The detailed listing contains a concise listing on 8-1/2x11 pages
for quick and convenient review and is designed for the sales
manager. Its simple to slip in into a brief case where it will
always be near. All pertinant information is at hand.
The system is designed to be operated by clerical persons on an
IBM PC with two disk drives or a hard disk. Drive A> should have
a bootable diskette with dBASE.EXE and dBASE.OVL, CONFIG.SYS,
AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.DB on it as follows:
CONFIG.DB
DEFAULT = B:
.............................
CONFIG.SYS
FILES = 24
BUFFERS = 20
..............................
AUTOEXEC.BAT
DATE
DBASE B:MENU
...............................
Printing requirements are an IBM or EPSON dot matrix printer and
continuous paper.
The following files make up the basic system and should provide a
complete follow-up system for the sales manager.
These are being released on a trial basis by the author for
public distribution.
