WordPerfect Support Group

This ReadMe! file is intended to help you use the files,
utilities, and messages on this disk. There are three sections
to ReadMe!: About Messages, About Shareware, and Files. Under
the File heading you will find the name of each file and a brief
description of its contents.

For 5.25" subscribers this is a two-disk set. The files are on
disk 1 and the messages are on disk 2. The ReadMe! file is on
both disks. Please read through all the file information carefully
before proceeding. Most files require WP version 5.1 in order
to run; these will have a note saying so in their file information.
If you do not have 5.1 installed on your computer, please do not
try to use those files designated for 5.1 only, since they will
not work.

Some of the files may have been formatted to print on a specific
printer. Before printing any file, you should check the printer
set-up and select your own printer.

How to use these files.
To use these files, you must first copy them onto your own disk,
since there is not enough room to open them all on the floppy.
Designate a directory to put these files in, for example
"c:\wp\diskset". In DOS, switch to the drive where the disk is
stored (in this example, drive a), and type "copy a:\*.*" to copy
all the files. If you just want to copy all those with an .EXE
extension, type "copy a:\*.exe". We recommend that you read the
file descriptions (under the heading FILE) and only copy those
of interest.

Since programs with an .EXE and .COM extension are self-extracting
and often contain more than one file you may want to create a
separate subdirectory for each of these. For example,
"c:\wp\diskset\CALNDR.EXE". To extract these files go to DOS,
make sure you are at the subdirectory you just created and type the
name of the file.

For example, from the DOS prompt [c:\wp\diskset\CALNDR.EXE] type
CALNDR.

If you currently have a file for macros [Setup/Sh-F1, 6-Location of
Files, 2-Keyboard/Macro files], you may want to copy any macro
files you want to that file. If you don't, when you go to run
these macros, you will need to enter a full directory path at the
'macro' prompt, since WP will search the established macro
directory automatically if you don't redirect it.

Files with a .WPM extension are macros ready to be copied
directly/immediately into your macro directory. The message file
(WPSG.MSG) can be read simply by retrieving it into WordPerfect
or opening it from the DOS prompt.

FILE: MUV5N6.EXE
Macros and utilities discussed in this newsletter. Includes:
ALTO.WPM from Letters to the WPSG, KEYB.WPM from Custom Keyboards,
and PHONE.WPM from Macro of the Month.

Extracted MUV5N6.EXE contains 3,465 bytes and the following

FILE: CALNDR.EXE
This macro creates a set of 12 calendars resembling the Month-At-A-
Glance Planners sold in stationery stores. The calendars may be
printed in landscape, portrait,or half-sheet. If you don't have the
necessary page size defined for your printer, the macro will auto-
matically create it for you. Each month produced has 3 built-in
styles. One can be used to write notes in the calendar. The other
two styles set font and bold codes for the month and the days.

FILE: 941.EXE
This file contains two keyboard-merge templates for filling in the
standard IRS form 941 (employer's quarterly federal tax return).
One template is a complete do-it-yourself: no math features. You
type in all the numbers, totals included. The other template will
calculate FICA & Medicare tax and total all the numbers for you.

FILE: COMPAR.EXE
This program improves on Word-Perfect's built-in comparison utility
by allowing a word-by-word redline of two documents, rather than
WP's phrase-by-phrase. COMPARE works (mostly) by brute force, with
every word in a source document compared with every word in a
secondary document to create a giant list of paired pointers. The
resulting pointer list is culled to eliminate criss-crossing
pointers and maximize the matches between the two documents.

FILE: GRINDEX.EXE
GRINDEX is a WordPerfect 5.1 macro that will allow you to build a
visual catalog (graphic index) of the graphics you use with WP.
This macro will work with any graphic format that WP supports.
This macro requires WordPerfect 5.1, 06/29/90 or later.

FILE: SYMBOL.EXE
Menu of symbols (all bullet types, fractions, legal symbols and
more). This macro allows you to select the symbol of your choice
with one character. The following are just a few examples:

Here are 6 function key macros intended to be mapped to your every-
day keyboard. William Marvin, explains how he is tired of answering
