ENVELOPE ADDRESSER FOR WORD PERFECT

Word Perfect documentation suggests addressing envelopes
using a Type-Thru mode. This means one must type each address
twice, first as part of the letter being sent, second on the
envelope. PC World, March 1987, pp309 has a neat macro which
copies the address from a letter and prints it on an envelope.
The macro saves time and reduces possible error.

The macro is named ALTE.MAC and should be stored in the
directory holding Word Perfect files and letters. After typing,
saving and printing a letter, position an envelope in the
printer, move the cursor to the beginning of the address in the
letter and invoke the macro by typing -E. Almost instantly,
the envelope is addressed. One caution, the address cannot be on
line one of the document (using proper secretarial form, this
will never happen).

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
