The DGIS systems software for the NEC MVA 1024 board can be
downloaded by inserting the MVA 1024 diskette (comes with
board) into a floppy drive and issuing the command:

a:>MVA DGIS4

Next run Wordperfect and select the following option from
the Setup:Graphics Screen Type (Shift-F1)(3)(5):

Drivers written by third parties (not supported by WPCORP):

Driver Company & Card Resolution Color Monitor Req'd
------ -------------- ---------- ----- -------------
EVWP6435 EVEREX EGA 640x350 16 EGA OR
EVEREX VGA(deluxe) MULTISYNC
EVEREX VGA(deluxe II)
EVWP6448 EVEREX EGA 640x480 16 MULTISYNC
EVEREX VGA(deluxe)
EVEREX VGA(deluxe II)
EVWP7541 EVEREX EGA 752x410 16 MULTISYNC
EVEREX VGA(deluxe)
EVEREX VGA(deluxe II)
EVWP8060 EVEREX EGA 800x600 16 MULTISYNC
EVEREX VGA(deluxe)
EVEREX VGA(deluxe II)

All of the above drivers are designed to be used with one
of several EVEREX graphics cards with the designated
monitor(s).

These drivers also support various text modes.

80x30 80x34 80x60
94x25 94x29 94x51
100x37 100x43 100x75
132x25 132x44 80x44

In order to use these resolutions in Wordperfect, use EGMODE
or EVGAMODE to set the desired text resolution, then run
Wordperfect. Wordperfect will automatically recognize the
screen dimensions and use that resolution. Note that WP
does not "like" the 100x75 resolution, and may only give you
25 lines. You can then flip back and forth between text
and graphics modes, and the text resolution will remain
correct.

To use one of the above graphics drivers with Wordperfect 5.0, copy the
.WPD file onto the diskette or hard disk directory where you keep WP.EXE
and WP.FIL. Then start WP, press the Setup key, select Display, and then
select Graphics Screen Type. The driver will be listed along with the
other available drivers in the menu.

SWITCHES
-------

Certain BIOS inconsistencies on some popular video boards can be overcome by
starting Wordperfect with the correct switches. These switches are /f1
and /f2.

/f1 (fix 1)
-----------
Problem:
When exiting a graphics screen the cursor is lost. This
problem was first encountered on an Everex Microenhancer.
Other cards may exibit the same problem.
Solution:
Start Wordperfect with the /f1 switch.

Example:
>wp/f1

/f2 (fix 2)
-----------
Problem:
This switch allows Wordperfect to run in extended text
modes when using the Paradise Autoswitch EGA 480 and the
Paradise VGA Plus cards. This may help with other cards
that exibit the same problem.
Solution:
Start Wordperfect with the /f2 switch.

Example:
>wp/f2

To use Wordperfect in extended text modes do the following:
1. Set the text mode desired before entering
Wordperfect. Each Paradise card comes with software
which will allow the user to select extended text
modes (VGAPLUS.EXE,13243.COM,ect.).
2. Run Wordperfect. Wordperfect should automatically
recognize the current number of columns and rows. It
will preserve this configuration when exiting
graphics screens or exiting to DOS.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
