An Automatic Generating System
for Creating WordPerfect 5.1 Menu Macros
By Gordon McComb
AUTOMENU is a DOS program designed to quickly and efficiently create menu
macros for use with WordPerfect 5.1. These menu macros are designed to run
other macros. The menu serves as an easy way to select named macros from
your macro library.
The menu systems created by AUTOMENU include the names and descriptions of
your favorite macros. The macro descriptions are displayed in a pop-up
box. Choose the macro you want to run from the list, and the menu calls
the macro by its name. For example, a macro may be described as "Prints a
document backwards," but be named BKPRINT.WPM. For ease of use, you can
select macros to run using the cursor keys -- for "point-and-shoot"
simplicity. Or, you can press a single key beside the macro description,
and the macro will automatically execute. Here's an example of how an
AUTOMENU-generated pop-up menu looks:
1 Choose a macro
2 Print a document backwards
3 Play Blackjack!
4 Set margins visually
5 Look at system variables
6 Insert date using menu
7 Draw box of specified size/shape
8 Change text attributes
9 Expense report form
A Convert a string to lower case
B Convert a string to upper case
C View a document in Print View
D Drawsboxes with Line Draw
E Set line spacing to single
F Set line spacing to double
The benefit of AUTOMENU is that it creates the menu macro for you. You do
not need to edit or alter the menu to conform to your needs. In fact, you
don't even have to know how to program WordPerfect macros to use AUTOMENU.
Everything is done for you.
