ASCII TextÂf
&ÂWhen converting a 5.0 document into ASCII Text, CENTER codes, TABs,
DECIMAL ALIGNs, INDENTs, FLUSH RIGHT codes, etc. are converted into
spaces, preserving the correct text structure.Æ(#
Æ

Spreadsheet DIFÂf
&ÂThe option for converting WordPerfect secondary merge files into
Spreadsheet DIF format has been moved to the second menu inside the
CONVERT program.Æ(#
Æ

FFT (Final Form Text)Âf"
&ÂConverts DCA FFT to WordPerfect, a new added option.Æ(#
Æ

MultiMate AdvantageÂf
&ÂColumns were not always being converted into 5.0 correctly. CONVERT
now converts several different types of column codes that are allowed in
MultiMate.Æ(#
Æ

4.2 to 5.0Âf
&ÂEmbedded printer commands are now converted properly. They were
previously ignored.Æ(#
Æ

4.2 to 5.0Âf
&ÂConverted Advance to Line Number codes were causing 5.0 to Advance to
an incorrect line number. Advance to a certain line now converts properly.Æ(#
Æ

4.2 to 5.0Âf
&ÂCONVERT no longer generates a MARGIN CHANGE when converting a 4.2
document that has two font changes of the same pitch on the same line. A
line having two font changes of differing pitch will still be split by a
margin change which will cause a [HRt] to occur within the 5.0 document.Æ(#
Æ

Revisable©Form©TextÂf
&ÂConverting a document in DCA format to 5.0 would cause any formatting
codes (font codes, line spacing code, etc.) to be stripped out of headers,
footers and footnotes. CONVERT.EXE now converts LINE formatting codes
within headers, footers and footnotes properly.Æ(#
Æ

Revisable©Form©TextÂf
&ÂConverting DisplayWrite documents which contained a SUPPRESS
HEADER/FOOTER code on the first page, or a code that designated the
text to start on a certain line, were not being converted. In DisplayWrite
the user has the ability to suppress a header or footer from being printed
on the first page only. The user can also designate at what line the text
should begin on the first page, as well as on subsequent pages.
CONVERT.EXE now will convert these codes.Æ(#
Æ

Revisable©Form©TextÂf
&ÂConverting DisplayWrite documents containing columns would sometimes
cause the text to become garbled. Because DisplayWrite uses TABs to
create columns, rather than using true column format as in WordPerfect,
CONVERT.EXE will now replace DisplayWrite column codes with TAB
codes when converting to 5.0 format, thus preserving the document's
appearance.Æ(#

5.0 into Other FormatÂf"
&ÂWhen converting a 5.0 document into another format, any information
stored in the prefix or header for that document was ignored; thus initial
fonts and initial settings were not converted. CONVERT.EXE now includes
information concerning the initial font or initial settings stored in the file's
prefix when converting a 5.0 document.Æ(#
Æ

IBM DCA RFT FormatÂf
&ÂLine Centering and Word Wrapping were not always converting properly
into 5.0. IBM 8100 and 5520 machines as well as DisplayWrite all handle
line centering and word wrapping differently. In earlier versions of
CONVERT.EXE this was not completely accounted for. CONVERT.EXE will
now handle all three types better.Æ(#
Æ

IBM DCA FFT FormatÂf
&ÂThe STOP Code was not being converted. Since the MERGE code
provides a similar function within 5.0, the STOP code is now converted to
a . Æ(#
Æ

Any FormatÂf
&ÂWhen converting enough files (e.g., using wildcarding) to cause the screen
to scroll, Convert would appear hung on several types of computers.
Typing CLS (not seen) would clear the screen and return it to a DOS
prompt. The files had been properly converted, however. Now, as the files
finish converting, the machine will return to a DOS prompt without user
input.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
