Block Protect ÂÞŽ "ÂBlock protect did not function correctly with widow/orphan on. If a widow
occurred in a protected block, the protect code would be moved to the end of

page. This problem was noticeable when creating mailing labels for a page

cursor repeated Word Right/Left several times, (3) then let up on the CTRL

was in setup anyway. This has been fixed to preserve the previous format if

respective text up from the virtual files. This change also affects documents
with lots of extended chars and codes that would not display a full screen of

between the two graphic images, the Display Pitch could change to the

Doc CompareÂÞŽ "ÂSwedish Version: The prompts "Text above was moved" and "Text below was
moved" could not contain extended characters. The text for these messages in

file on screen when text nearby was different which posed problems. Doc
compare now only copies text from the disk file to the screen file in the usual

characters. When creating a Document Summary (shift F8 3,5) if a user typed

Doc Summary ÂÞŽ "ÂIf a file contained any extended character number 0 (the bullet [4,0] for
example) in the document summary, looking at the file using List Files, the

Doc SummaryÂÞŽ "ÂWhen a hyphen was used in the Descriptive Filename for Document Summary,
the hyphen was changed to an ASCII (ASCII 170) corner character. When
creating a Document Summary (Shift F8 3,5,1), the user selected a descriptive
filename that contained a hyphen, WordPerfect would change the hyphen into
an ASCII corner character. If the file was saved in this state, the file could
not be retrieved again as WordPerfect was not able to read the ASCII corner

Document CompareÂÞŽ "ÂDocument Compare strings "TEXT ABOVE WAS MOVED" and "TEXT
BELOW WAS MOVED" could not display extended characters. (The swedish
version uses some extended characters in this string.) This change only affects

EndnoteÂÞŽ "ÂWhen using parallel columns if an endnote placement code was inserted at the
end of column one, text in the next column displayed incorrectly.Æ(#Ž Æ

Endnote ÂÞŽ "ÂIf text containing a new endnote number were placed (Retrieve©F10, Block
copied or moved©Ctrl F4, or undeleted©F1) into an endnote, this new number
code would not be deleted if the endnote were deleted and caused problems

Endnote ÂÞŽ "ÂCursoring over an endnote placement code caused problems if certain function
codes preceded it. It is not feasible to get a comprehensive list of the

recoverable. Rather than locking up the machine, the user will be returned

or strikeout, the advance code was being sent to the printer first, causing the

Font AttributesÂÞŽ "ÂWhen printing with a second pass printer (i.e. HP Series II) only 25 on/off
attributes (underline, strikeout, etc.) were printed per line. WordPerfect now

Font Attributes ÂÞŽ "ÂA Small Caps attribute would not turn off correctly if used with certain other

FootnoteÂÞŽ "ÂAny force odd/even code inside a footnote would throw page numbering off

FootnotesÂÞŽ "ÂPgUp while in the footnote edit screen was the same as Home,Home,Up. Now

in any other sub-structures, although there may be mark text functions in the

occur if there is a subdocument inside of a footnote, endnote, graphic box,

finds the first occurrence of that type of line. The line definition screen will
appear and you may change any of the settings shown. Cancel-F1 will cancel

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂThe "invert" menu option in the graphic figure edit screen has been changed.
It now reads "Invert On" or "Invert Off" which tells the user the invert status
of bitmap images. Pressing Invert (I,4) will re-write the image inverted, and

printed. Generally it would look as if character boxes lower on the page were

be displayed improperly. This has been improved, but the text will still be
displayed too far to the right if the user centers both the text and the box.

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂTIF graphics files could cause an error when retrieved if they had been created
at a default resolution (pixels per inch) that when decompressed, were wider
than WordPerfect could handle. WordPerfect now adjusts such files to a size

Graphics ÂÞŽ "ÂCertain machines were losing the changes made to graphic figures in the
graphic edit screen.Æ(#Ž Æ

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂOn certain computers, a scaled (enlarged or reduced) graphic figure would
revert to original size after viewed in View Document. Æ(#Ž Æ

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂOn color monitors, the filled (shaded) area of a graphic image that was filled
with the same color as the background color on the display (white, for
example) would appear not to be filled on the screen. In View Document,
WordPerfect was not displaying the fill color if it were the same as the
background color. This was most noticeable on the .WPG fills shipped with
WordPerfect that had been converted with GRAPHCNV.EXE using the /C-2
option. The graphics would print with a solid fill color. They only displayed
incorrectly on the screen.Æ(#Ž Æ

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂCharacter type graphics boxes with text inside them did not work correctly
when a binding width was specified. The box would move as specified by the
binding width, but the text inside the box would move farther left or right.
Both the box and any text inside the box will now move the same distance.Æ(#Ž Æ

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂWhile creating a graphic figure, if a `filename' were entered that contained
certain extended characters (i.e. SeÀ8Àor), the file was not found and the
extended characters in the filename were altered. WordPerfect now handles
graphic filenames with extended characters correctly.Æ(#Ž Æ

GraphicsÂÞŽ "ÂWrapping text around graphic boxes, certain conditions (several graphics, etc)
could cause too much text to be bumped to the next page. WordPerfect now
measures correctly how much text can fit on the page around graphics, and

HeadersÂÞŽ "ÂHeaders containing a centered line of text followed by a Hard Return and no

Hyphen.exeÂÞŽ "ÂWords added to the exception dictionary would be lost or deleted when using
Hyphen.Exe if the user would added words to the exception dictionary before
performing a lookup first. The added words would write over the current
words in the exception dictionary. Also, words were lost if the user added
words then tested hyphenation (Option 5), then added more words.Æ(#Ž Æ

HyphenationÂÞŽ "ÂIf parallel columns were turned on for the last line of the page, then the first
word on the next line (which should be on the next page) might be requested
to be hyphenated, even though the word may be quite short (i.e. `the'). This
could cause a hyphenation request for the same short word every time the user
cursored past it.Æ(#Ž Æ

HyphenationÂÞŽ "ÂIf a hyphenation spot isn't found in the H-zone, but is found to the left of the
H-zone, the hyphen will be placed at the hyphen spot to the left of the H-zone
and the user will be prompted to "Position Hyphen and Press ESC". If noÔ @(Ô hyphen spot is found in or to the left of the H-zone the hyphen will be placed
at the right margin and the user will be prompted.Æ(#Ž Æ

IndexÂÞŽ "ÂWhen blocking a word for inclusion in an index, and entering more than one
word in the heading, if cancel (F1) were pressed for the subheading, corruption
would appear in the index code in reveal codes.Æ(#Ž Æ

Index/GenerateÂÞŽ "ÂGenerating an index heading or subheading that contained WordPerfect
character 0 (zero) from any of the character sets 1-11 could cause problems

cannot be Found". Graphics are now disallowed in initial codes. Æ(#Ž Æ

change that had been made in printer initial fonts. WordPerfect will now
reflect any Print Initial Font changes in subsequent documents created during

Keyboard LayoutÂÞŽ "ÂWordPerfect will now read WPK files which are read-only. If the read-only
WordPerfectK file is modified, and the user tries to save the modified

top of the page could print in an unpredictable horizontal position if the line

to select the printer from the ALL file. Then the Select Printer screen would
show two PRS files with the same name. Before the user could print, he/she
had to delete the PRS name that appeared when the document was retrieved
before WordPerfect would allow the "real" PRS file to be selected.Æ(#Ž Æ

ShadowÂÞŽ "ÂPrinters using multiple pass shadowing (HP Laserjet, etc.) were not shadowing
correctly with different point sizes on a line. Smaller text was being printed
with the larger text offset, making the text hard to read. Now each point size
prints with its own shadow offset.Æ(#Ž Æ

SortÂÞŽ "ÂA merge sort with field 1, line -1, word -1, would send WordPerfect into an
endless sorting sequence.Æ(#Ž Æ

beginning of the block of text (as 4.2 did) instead of the end, so that a

ThesaurusÂÞŽ "ÂThesaurus will not allow a lookup of a word contained in a style code since
WordPerfect will not allow the word to be replaced. To use thesaurus on words

TUTOR.COMÂÞŽ "ÂTutor.Com would have problems in the spell lesson if the dictionary could not
be found. Tutor now reads part of the WordPerfect set file telling it where
