ESCAPE ESCAPE exits from editing mode and returns
to the opening screen or returns from
editing options.

@$29 RULER TOGGLE displays or hides the ruler
on the bottom of the screen.

@$34 SET/UNSET TAB sets a tab stop at the
current column position. If a tab stop is
already present at the current column, it
will be removed. SET TAB is only
effective when the ruler is displayed.

@$35 CLEAR ALL TABS unsets all existing tab
stops. CLEAR ALL TABS is only effective
when the ruler is displayed.

@$38 RESET RULER sets the tab stops and margin
indicators to the default positions set
when the system is started. The intervals
for each tab stop is determined by the
value set in the SimplyWrite parameters (Auto
Tabs) from the utilities.

@$39 CROSSHAIR toggles a "video crosshair"
that highlights the current row and column.
This can be very useful in performing
column or row alignment and is required
for column paragraph formatting. However,
the crosshair may visually disengage
highlighted sections of marked text if it
is moved across the highlighted section.
There are no ill side effects from this;
pressing and will redraw
the highlighted portion if necessary.

@$88 SET LM sets the left margin to the current
column. SET LM is only effective when the
ruler is displayed.

@$36 MOVE LM IN moves and sets the left margin
in one column (one column to the right of
its current position).

@$87 MOVE LM OUT moves and sets the left margin
out one column (one column to the left of
its current position).

@$90 SET RM sets the right margin to the current
column. SET RM is only effective when the
ruler is displayed.

@$89 MOVE RM IN moves and sets the right margin
in one column (one column to the left of
its current position).

@$37 MOVE RM OUT moves and sets the right
margin out one column (one column to the
right of its current position).

@$44 BACKSPACE MODE toggles the destructive
backspace feature. When engaged, a "<"
appears on the status line, indicating
that the backspace key is functioning as a
non-destructive left arrow key. When this
indicator is not present, pressing the
backspace key removes (destructs) the
character to the left of the cursor as
well as moving the remaining text on that
line left one column.
