Computer searching rapidly retrieves dozens to hun-
dreds of articles. BUT they frequently are quite
variable in their pertinence. So the user runs
through the file finding the articles needed, then
runs through them again at the library to find
the needed articles.

This program takes a computer search file, separates
marked articles, and puts their source lines in an
alphabetized list in a file called output.txt.
Simultaneously, the author, title and source lines are
put into a file of your choosing (and the same file can
be used for multiple searches each result is added onto
the end of the file).

The program requires an IBM clone running DOS 3 or
higher. It needs 256K memory.

BEFORE YOU RUN THE PROGRAM THE COMPUTER SEARCH
FILE MUST BE IN GOOD SHAPE !!!!.
1) Although strict ASCHII isn't necessary, word
perfect puts in characters which goofs up the
program. So remove all the wordperfect characters
up to the first text.
2) RELEVANT ARTICLES MUST BE MARKED !!!!
PUT AN * before the start of the article in column 1
and put a N at the end of the article in column 1
EXAMPLE:

* reference 1
stupid reference id number
AU S. KATZ
TI Effect of video games on sex drive in medical
school residents.
AB quite
MH Psych; Voodoo; Video games
MS something else entirely
SO J. Irreproduc Results. 12(2) Jan 15 1992. pp. 24-12.
N

The program would pull the source line to file 'output.txt'
and put the lines:

AU S. KATZ
TI Effect of video games on sex drive in medical
SO J. Irreproduc Results. 12(2) Jan 15 1992. pp. 24-12.

into the designated output file.

This program is part of a new concept in programming--
commissionware.

The computer is a machine which is programmable to
operate in nearly inexhaustible operations. Why then
should YOU have to learn how to operate an applicatin.
Why can't the program be designed around the way YOU
want it to work? This is the idea behind commisionware.

I want to write a program that works
exactly the way You want it to. The problem is
I don't have the faintest idea what you want
as I'm writing the program. The solution--write a
reasonable program and put it on the boards with the
instructions that if someone wants the program, they
write to me how they want their program to run and I
write an improved, customized version just for this
particular user. (this current program is, however,
still copyrighted 1991 Matt Wachsman).

Specifically for the literature search filter there
are several modifications which can be made 1) have
the user decide what the markers for beginning and
end of relevant articles 2) have the program filter
different parts or put the output in a different order.
3)have it examine different fields.
Each modification would run $20. Many other similar
programs are possible....

You send me the proposed modification. I send the pro-
posed price. If you agree, I send the program, you send
the money or the program back (money back guarantee).

Sound interesting ?
