The file VGA.DRV is a Windows 3.0 Display Driver for Oak Technology's OTI-067
VGA Graphics Controller. This driver uses the 800 x 600, 16-color mode of the
hardware (mode 52h), and will run in both real and protected modes. To use this
driver, perform the following installation steps:
1. Install the Windows 3.0 retail product:
a. Using diskette #1, make A: the current drive, and type
SETUP
b. Follow the instructions appearing on the screen, but make sure that
the display selected for installation is the VGA.
2. After Windows is installed, there will be a subdirectory under the main
Windows directory called SYSTEM. Change to this subdirectory. For example,
if Windows 3.0 was installed in a directory called WIN30, issue the follow-
ing command:
CD \WIN30\SYSTEM
3. Copy the driver from the diskette:
COPY A:VGA.DRV
This will replace the VGA display driver installed from the retail diskettes
with the 800 x 600, 16-color driver. Windows may be run in one of three modes -
real, 286 and 386, using the command line options /r, /2 or /3. Thus, to run
Windows in 286 mode, for example, type:
WIN /2
The included driver will run properly under all of the Windows modes.
