INTRODUCTION

Thank you for evaluating Converter 1.5. There are several Windows-based
unit conversion utilities available. A couple have prettier interfaces.
But none have the ease of use, the flexibility and the power of Converter
at the low price of $5.

Converter 1.5 allows you to convert all the way from angstroms (one hundred
-millionth of a centimeter) to parsecs (3.26 light years), as well as most
units in between. That includes standard U.S. units, metric units,
surveyor's units and even the ancient measuring units used in the Bible.
That's just the length portion of the program. The weight modules include
all U.S. and metric standards as well as Troy weights and Apothecaries'
standards. The time module allows you to convert all the way from nanoseconds
(a billionth of a second) to millenniums. There also such useful modules
as household units, tire pressures and desktop publishing units
(for converting between inches, picas and points.

INSTALLATION

Installation of Converter 1.5 couldn't be easier. Simply move the
CONVERTR.EXE and CONVERTR.HLP files to a directory of your choice. You do
not have to create a separate directory for Converter. You must have a copy
of VBRUN300.DLL in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If you don't have a copy
of VBRUN300.DLL, you can get it from most online services and bulletin
boards, usually in the form of a zipped archive named VBRUN300.ZIP or
VBRUN3.ZIP.
You can install an icon in a Program Manager group or run the file
from a run statement in the Program Manager or by double-clicking on the
CONVERTR.EXE file in the File Manager.
The operation of the program is self-explanatory, and online help
is provided.

REGISTRATION

Converter 1.5 is not free. It is shareware -- very inexpensive
shareware. It is not crippled or limited in any way. I have not included
any annoying nag screens. If you keep this application for use longer
than 10 days, you are expected to register it. That means sending me
$5. That's all. Those who registered Converter 1.0 are considered
registered users of version 1.5. Once you register, you are registered for
all future updates. In exchange, you'll feel good whenever you use
Converter 1.5, and you'll know that you are helping to keep the shareware
system working. Send a check to:

Shareware distributors are free to distribute this application:
as long as it is distributed in its original unaltered .ZIP file format,
nothing is charged beyond the necessary fees covering distribution and as
long as it is made clear to buyers that the software they are purchasing
is shareware and requires registration. BBS sysops are free to post
Converter 1.5 for downloads.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
