Contents of the FASTDISK.DOC file
GENERAL FUNCTION: Speeds floppy disk drives.
WHY IS IT NEEDED? IBM altered disk speed starting with DOS 2.1 so
that DOS would be compatible with PCJr. If you have a regular PC,
this makes your drives unnecessarily slow and noisy.
INSTALLATION: Run FASTDISK once.
HOW TO USE IT: You probably will want to put this in your autoexec.bat.
OTHER EFFECTS: Makes drives not only faster but quieter. Especially
noticeable on Tandon drives.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Works with DOS 1.1, 2.x, and 3.0.
COMMENTS: FASTDISK reduces the head settling time to 2ms and
does not return the head to track 0 after each access.
SOURCE OF PROGRAM: Unknown.
