THese are the simple instructions to worm1b4. First, set up both of the
auxhost bat files in your host program directory, along with scanner.exe,
hostin2.exe and worm4.exe. You will need to edit the auxhost1.ini file to
include DRIVE:PATH\WORM4 GAMEDIRECTORY. Auxhost1.ini is essentially a bat
file which runs worm4.exe on the game directory. Remember, the structure
must be DRIVE:HOST DIRECTORY\GAMEDIRECTORY The host program will crash if
more than one directory is between the host program and the game directory.
Tolls are set based upon the ship which claims a wormhole. If ship 35 claims
a wormhole, the toll is 350 MC. 10*SHIP#=TOLL If the ship does not have the
toll onboard, the ship will be confiscated. Ships in your race, the race owning
ship #35, would not be charged the toll. You will notice that one turn often
passes between charging a toll and the time the toll appears on ship #35. That's
natural. If, however, you lose ship 35, you lose the wormhole. The race which
owns ship 35 is updated in each turn.
If a wormhole is moved, by the sysop or wherem, then the wormhole becomes an
unowned, new wormhole. DO NOT CHANGE the number of wormholes in a game. THis
should work, but I guarantee nothing. Wormhole.txt, which should be in each
directory containing a game with wormholes, is only needed by worm to create
tessract.hst. ONce this file exists, you don't really need the text file,
unless you run wherem or change the positions of wormholes. To start a new
game, delete tessract.hst. Worm will then recreate it from wormhole.txt.
THe registered version of this program contains a few enhancements. First,
you get increased range at about 31 lightyears radius. YOu also get the wormhole
give ship. Set your friendship code to gs1-gsb, and the ship is transferred
to that race BEFORE it jumps. That means, you do have to pay the toll if you're
not giving it to the race which owns the wormhole. I also added a captain's log
feature, to report on which wormholes your race owns.
There are 3 friendship codes which allow for morphing. I'm not giving them
to you. If you can get them, your ships will change type in the wormhole.
A small freighter can come out as a superstar destroyer. MAYBE. There's no
current code for that, I assure you. ONly the registerred version supports
that.
