When you select the ISDN interface speed, WinNET will
attempt to open your communications port at a data rate
of 115,200 bits per second when communications occur.
This is a very fast rate, and the majority of personal
computers are NOT equipted with a serial port that can
operate properly at this speed. In such cases, WinNET's
communications program may fail or report an error. This
is true even of many 16550 UART equipted serial cards.

Also, even if you do have a very capable serial port, if
you do not have at least a 28.8 bit per second modem, do
not select ISDN as the interface speed here.

*HOWEVER*, if you have ISDN certified equiptment, such as
Motorola Corp's 'Bit Surfer' modem, or a state of the
art 16550 UART equipted serial card, such as the ESP
Communications Accelarator manufactured by Hayes, by all
means try out the ISDN setting! And buckle your seatbelt!

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
