This is a updated release of SHERLOCK.
All vendors have permission to destribute this software in every
conceivable way, such as a catalog, BBS, Racks, CD ROM, radio
broadcasting, etc. as long as all of the files are distributed
together. You may also use any text and graphics from this
announcement, the program, and the documentation. You may
include your own information files and other programs on the disk
with SHERLOCK.
The primary change in this release are the options to ignore case
and to ignore leading spaces or all spaces.
Registered versions of SHERLOCK will not have any Shareware
screens or reminders to register. The unregistered version that
you are distributing will randomly 'Run as if Registered' to
demonstrate the real thing.
Gulf Sierra accepts registrations by VISA, MasterCard and
American Express.
Here are some descriptions that you may use in your catalog for
SHERLOCK.
One line description --
SHERLOCK.EXE A dual window ASCII text file comparison utility.
Long description --
SHERLOCK is a text comparison utility that compares two ASCII
files line by line. When they don't match, SHERLOCK raises a
flag. At that point, you may scroll either or both files past
the mismatch to put them in sync and continue. Either file can
be automatically scanned to locate a line matching the line
selected in the other file. SHERLOCK displays five lines from
each file in separate windows. SHERLOCK contains features for
searching, optionally ignoring case & spaces, jumping around the
files and copying lines to a printer. SHERLOCK is designed as a
tool for programmers and writers. It is ideal for comparing
-1-
program source files, AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, and text
documents.

Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
