If you're going to make your games portable across all adaptors, you can
realistically only use ~M~Ifour colors ~Y~Ion the screen at a time. Many game
companies sell separate versions of their games for the different adaptors.
Typically they offer one release for the CGA and another for EGA/VGA
adaptors. ~G~IUsers don't seem to mind this, ~Y~Iso there's no reason why you
can't use this same approach yourself.

Since the CGA is dying out, some companies have stopped supporting it
altogether. That is a valid option for anyone producing software nowadays,
especially for graphics-oriented software.
