Coloring Book 2.2 For Windows
Copyright 1995 Russell Holloway
October 1, 1995

--Comments--
You may notice that this documentation file is fairly short. The
reason is that the program doesn't need very much documentation.

Note: This program requires that VBRUN300.DLL be in your
WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory. Without this file, the program will not
run. If you need this file, it can be found on most bulletin boards,
every major online service, and all over the internet. If you still
can't find the file, call me at 606-266-2079, and I will provide it.

--Installing The Program--
After you have uncompressed the files to an available directory, go
to the top left corner of the File Manager screen. Pull down the
File menu and select New. Select Program Item from the next menu.
Enter Coloring Book as the Description of the program. Select browse
and go to the directory where you uncompressed the Coloring Book
files. Double click on the file PAINTER.EXE in the left window (it
should be the only file displayed.) You should now have a new icon
titled Coloring Book.

--Running The Program--
To change the colors in the current picture, put the mouse pointer on
the color of your choice in the color grid at the bottom left of the
screen. Then press the left mouse button. The current painting
color will appear in the box at the bottom left corner of the screen.
You can then paint any area of the picture you want. The only
exception is that you cannot paint areas of the screen that are
black.

To move to the next picture, just click on the picture of the right
arrow. To move to the previous picture, click on the picture of the
left arrow.

If you want to start over and erase all the colors in the current
picture, click on the box that contains a color picture of a house
with an arrow pointing to a black and white picture of the same
house.

You can undo up to 30 of your last colors by clicking on the box that
contains a picture of a pencil-eraser.

When you are finished with the current picture, you can select
another picture or exit the program. To select the next picture,
click on the box with the arrow that points to the right. To select
the previous picture, click on the box with the arrow that points to
the left.

If you would like to print your picture, just click on the picture of
the printer (make sure the printer is ready first). To start
printing, just click on Start Printing. To abort printing, click on
Cancel Printing.

This version of the program comes with 10 pictures that I have taken
the liberty of pre-coloring. Do not let my lack of taste discourage
you, these pictures can have any colors you want. Remember, to
instantly clear away all of the colors, just click on the box that
contains the pictures of the color and black and white houses.

--Registration--
If you register the program, you will receive 24 more pictures to
color and print. You will also receive digital sound support.

Registration will also get you the registered version of my DOS
Coloring Book.

In addition, if you request a High Density diskette, you will receive
four shareware programs at no cost.

It is important to remember that the program saves the current colors
whenever you select another picture or exit the program.

To exit the program, click on the box with the open door in it. You
will then be taken back to the Program Manager.

I hope you have fun with this. The program has no real tangible use,
but kids like it, and it gives you something interesting to do.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
