To remove the need for the "Key disk" on LEMMINGS.

This ZIP contains the following files:

LEMX.COM short .com pgm that changes the RUSSELL.DAT file

RUSSELL.DAT initial file for LEMX.COM to use.( note- this file might
already exist in the LEMMINGS directory)

LEMX.DOC this file

LEMLEV.DOC listing of the access codes for all levels

You need to copy the LEMX.COM and RUSSELL.DAT files to the LEMMINGS
directory on your hard disk. From now on, run LEMX before running the
LEMMING program. (Easier with a batch file.)

NOTE: The LEMX program looks for C:\LEMMINGS\RUSSELL.DAT. If your
drive or directory are different then you can use debug if you wish to
change the drive/pathname in LEMX.COM. It starts at byte 3. Fill any
blanks in the directory name with 20h's.

! LATE NEWS... APPEARS THAT IF YOU RESET YOUR SYSTEM CLOCK
LEMMINGS MIGHT NOT WORK PROPERLY WITH THIS.
IF THIS HAPPENS, TRY TO RECOPY THE RUSSELL.DAT
FILE AND START AGAIN. (SORRY)

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
