unprotect for GOLDRUSH!

copy protection scheme is bsed on documentation

to remove the copy protection run bat file grush

- the bat file will copy your grdir file
to olddir - this is for your protection
as your version may differ from mine

- the bat file invokes debug to modify grdir

- run sierra to start game

note - if you wish to manually apply the patch

- the offsets in grush.dbg are 100 hex bytes greater
than the file offsets

do to the fact that debug loads everything as a com file

file old new
offset value value
------- ------ -------

brought to you by SIR GRAHAM working to make your
hard disk more useful - and 80 page books unnecessary

why i did not attempt to break other documentation protected
Sierra games

-- because people have a right to protect their property

why i broke GOLDRUSH

-- i do not like to fumble through 80 page books

remember - this unprotect is for legitimate purposes
only - hard disk execution - and not for the production
of illegal copies

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
