Thank you for taking the time to download this program. It represents a lot of hard work on my part and I hope you find it usefull. The Dprotecter is, in essence, a database. It contains the needed information to unprotect over 100 programs, and is growing everyday!
Currently, there are three seperate databases in this program. The first is the main database. It contains unprotects for current games. The second is the classic collection. It contains unprotects for older games and utilities. If you have a game that is older then a year, then look in here. The last database is the TSR collection. Currently it is very small, but I am getting more added to it. This collection contains unprotects that are actually small programs that bypass the copy protection when it is encountered in the game.
This program organizes the different programs it can unprotect in a nice, easy to use menu system. All you do is highlight the name of the program you want to unprotect, and click on the UNPROTECT button. The program will prompt you for the location of the game, and presto! No more copy protection!
The Dprotecter was designed for ease of use. Most people don't know how to use a byte editor to go into a program and remove copy protection. You will find that the use of this program is very simplistic. Very little knowledge is required by you, the user, on editing files. The only thing you need to know is the name of the program, and where it is located.
INSTRUCTIONS
After installing the program, (Instructions for that are found in INSTALL.TXT) The Dprotecter will have its on program group, which should be open. Simply double click on the Dprotecter icon to start the program.
The screen you are now looking at is the main program screen. On the left side is a window containing all the available unprotects for the current library that you are in. You start out in the main library. On the right hand side of the windows is a scroll bar with an up arrow at the top and a down arrow at the bottom. You can click on these to scroll the box up and down.
On the top right of the screen are several buttons. The two you will use most are UNPROTECT, and CHANGE LIBRARY. There are several other buttons, which are intended for more experienced users. These will be covered later.
Underneath the set of buttons is a text box. This box displays and relevant information to the currently selected unprotect. I.E. any special instructions on what to do after using the crack. Be sure to read this information before running the unprotect so you will know if there is anything special you have to do to start the program.
UNPROTECTING A PROGRAM
After you find the program you want to unprotect in the list (if its there!), select it by clicking on it with your mouse. A bar will highlight the program you just selected, and text will appear in the box at the bottom right side of the program screen. Read the information there before continuing.
Next, click on the UNPROTECT button. A screen will appear prompting you to select the location of the program you are unprotecting. The location should be where you installed the program on your hard drive.
There are three controls on this form. There is a drive box in the upper left part of the screen. Click on the down arrow to select a new drive if your program is not on the current drive. The second is a directory tree. It is the window on the right side of the screen. You should select the directory that your program is stored in. Next, click on the OK button. The button text will change to WORKING momentarily, then a screen will appear stating that the program is now unprotect. Click on OK and your done! That's it! The average program should take no more then 5 seconds to unprotect!
If at anytime, you change your mind, click on the cancel button and you will be returned to the main menu. If you don't find the program your looking for listed, then give my BBS a call. There may be an update out, or you can leave me a message requesting that I add it, and if possible, I will.
CHANGING LIBRARIES
The Dprotecter sorts its unprotects into 3 different libraries. They are the MAIN LIBRARY, CLASSIC LIBRARY, and TSR LIBRARY. To change between them, simply click on the CHANGE LIBRARY button.
A list of the available libraries will appear. Double click on the one you want to switch to and its contents will be loaded. You will see a new list of programs in the menu. Everything else works the same!
QUITING THE PROGRAM
If you want to exit the program, click on the FILE menu item on the top of the main screen. A menu will pull down. Select EXIT and poof!, you are out of the program.
SUMMARY
This should be all you need to know to effectively use this program. If you have any problems, you can reach me at my BBS, listed at the end of this document. This also the first place you will be able to get updates to the databases. Hope you enjoy the program!
A WORD FROM OUR SPONSER!
The Dprotecter represents countless hours of hard work and research. It is a culmination of my programming skills (still lacking in many ways), and I feel that is is a usefull tool. If you feal this way, and would like to help support the program, it is only $15.00! This meager donation will entitle you to. . .
Free lifetime updates via my BBS. After registering, you may log on to my BBS and download an update at anytime VIA a door program written for that task. It will tell you if there has been any updates and automatically zip the program up and upload it to you, registered in your name and all. It's an effective way to keep up with any updates that come out.
The shareware nag screen that appears whenever you start the program will be removed. You will immediately be taken into the program. A small box on the bottom of the screen will appear momentarily with your registration information in it!
Registration can be done in two ways. The easiest way is to log on my BBS and register by credit card. When you log on, type DPRO3REG at the main menu. A program will be loaded that will get all the required information from you and will then personalize your copy of The Dprotecter and upload it to you, along with all the libraries currently available.
After that, whenever you log on, type DPRO3REG and you will be notified of any changes in the program and given the opertunity to download it. It is all very easy and quick.
The second way is to mail me a check. You will still need to log onto my bbs to get your personalized copy and any updates. You will be manually entered into my database and will be able to download your personalized copy in the same manner. If you choose to do it that way, mail your check to:

Of course, the bbs is up 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We have 3 gigs online, with a wide range of intrests covered including games, music, utility, and windows type programs, so give us a call!
This sums up the main instructions. Listed afterwards are instructions on how to add unprotects to the database if you so choose. However, they may not be included in this file at this time.
Thanks again!

Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!
This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
