DOS/UNIX VERSION OF UNZIP

C. Mascott
12/14/89

1. I intend this to be a "universal" version of UNZIP. I have
tried to leave the DOS/Turbo C stuff alone while adding
the UNIX stuff. However, I don't have Turbo C, so I can't
verify that the code still compiles under Turbo C.

2. I have discovered that some versions of memcpy() are too
smart to be used with UNZIP. As used by unImplode(),
memcpy() must always start copying from the first source
address to the first destination address, even if the
source and destination regions overlap. If your memcpy()
is too smart (you get CRC errors when unimploding), or
if you do not have memcpy(), use the memcpy() I have
provided.

3. If you do not have memset(), use the memset() I have provided.

4. UNZIP has been tested on the following UNIX systems:

XENIX 2.3A 68000 (basically V7)
Microport System V 386, pcc

5. Please read the following files:

new20a.doc new features in UNZIP

why20a.doc rationale for major changes to UNZIP

6. Compile-time options are described in the beginning of unzip.c.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
