BMKCVT.EXE: Bookmark Conversion Utility
---------------------------------------

This utility will convert gopher bookmarks created with the
program PC Gopher II version 1.05r3 to the new format used
by PC Gopher III. It will open the old-format bookmark
file, convert the bookmarks, and either add them to an
existing new-format bookmark file, or to a brand new file.

Usage
-----

To run BMKCVT, type

BMKCVT

at the DOS prompt, replacing with the name of
your old-format bookmark file, and with the
name of the new-format file you wish to create or add to.

What It Does
------------

BMKCVT will start by making a backup copy of the old file,
called OLD_BMK.BAK. If you're adding to an already
existing new-format file, it'll back that up to a file
called NEW_BMK.BAK.

Next it will munch on the old-format file for a bit, and
finally show you the list of bookmarks that it found. This
list should correspond to what you're used to seeing in the
bookmark dialog box; it's a list of the names that you gave
to the bookmarks when you created them.

Then you'll see the new bookmark list; if you're adding to a
file, this list should contain both the bookmarks that were
in the new-format file before you ran BMKCVT, and the
bookmarks that BMKCVT read out of the old-format file. If
you're creating a new file, this list will look exactly the
same as the last one.

Finally, you'll be asked if you want to save the results.
If you answer yes, the new bookmark list will be written out
to disk.

Bugs
----

There aren't any. If you'd like to report one anyway, send
me mail (address below).

BMKCVT was tested under plain vanilla DOS version 5.0. DON'T
run it under Windows. DON'T run it if you have Stacker
loaded. DON'T run it under DRDOS. DON'T run it with 13,432
weird little TSR pop-up calendars and screen savers. Just
use plain old DOS, version 4.0 or greater, and everything
will be hunky-dory.
