Linux MGR-VGA beta version 0.02.

Minimun requirements:
* Linux pre0.96 or better.
* VGA card or better. There is support for SVGA modes
800x600, 1024x768 and 768x1024 (Note: 1024x768 and 768x1024
modes are untested, since my monitor won't handle those
resolutions)
* About 6MB of HD space. More or less depending on the
features, fonts, source, etc.
* MGR uses PTYs, so you must configure the Kernel accordingly.
(i.e., one pty per window, so the more ptys you define the
more windows you can open)
* GCC to be able to link the program.
* Microsoft Compatible Serial mouse.
* Lots of time and patience.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Porting notes:
* The base for the port was the Sparc MGR code.
* STTY->TERMIO changes from bellcore.mgr (Posted by Stephen
Uhler from Bellcore, [email protected])
* Write.c and destroy.c from NewXenix Mgr by Chain Lee.
* Main blitbit routines based on Minix's GASBLIT library by
Thomas Heller.
* Uses VGALINUX library's routines for VGA support by Tommy
Frandsen ([email protected]) with hacks for SVGA mode by me
and text restore by Zeyd ([email protected]) and me.
* Uses selection-1.0 Microsoft serial mouse driver code by
Andrew Haylett ([email protected]).

For historical reasons (and my own amusement) the following bitblit
libraries are included:
- stublib - used to aid you in porting MGR to a new platform.
From the SPARC mgr distribution.
- oblit - sun2/sun3 version of blitbit. (Compiles and SORT
of works 🙂 from the SPARC mgr distribution.
- pc-blit - based on pc-blit by Chain Lee. (xenix mgr dist)
- vgablit - Currently used based in gasblit and vgalinux

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
