Subject: Problems Logging on to cc:Mail

Situation:
==========
When trying to log on to cc:Mail through WinFax, the following error
message may appear:

Incorrect name/password or Not connected to network

Solution:
=========
1. Exit WinFax.

2. Use a Windows text editor, such as Notepad or SYSEDIT to edit the
\WINDOWS\WIN.INI file.

3. In the [cc:Mail] section of the WIN.INI, add the following lines:

LastIDUsed=1
LastUseID=1

For example, a cc:Mail section in the WIN.INI may appear as follows:

[cc:mail]
ProgramPath=Q:\MAILSYS\CCMAIL\VS2\CCMAIL
User1Name=Bob Smith
User1Dir=c:\win31\ccmail\cc1dir
LastIDUsed=1
LastUserID=1
User0Dir=c:\win31\ccmail
PROGVER=200

4. Start WinFax and log onto cc:Mail.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
