Subject: Maximizer for Windows 1.x Phonebooks Not Recognized

Situation:
==========
Maximizer for Windows 1.x uses a BTRIEVE database format and does not
support Delrina's [WfxPbLinks] phonebook API. Therefore, WinFax will not
directly recognize the phonebook format.

Solution:
=========
BTRIEVE does not export dBase-compatible files. For phonebook data to be
available to WinFax, export the BTRIEVE database to ASCII format and import
this into WinFax.

1. Choose or create a phonebook in WinFax.

2. From the right click menu menu, choose Import. The Import Phone Records
dialog appears.

3. In the Import from File field, click Select or type the file name. In
the Format field, use the drop-down list box to select ASCII. Select
the appropriate options and click OK.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
