This archive explains how to handle the new TOKENIZED member format
for ZIP type archive files. This archive has been created to allow
people to comment on how it works.

The files '4KZEROES' and 'TEST.BAS' are the files which have been
created using the Tokenized member specifications in 'KATZLETR.TXT.'
Note that copies of these files have the subdirectory 'ORIG' in front
of them, this is so you can compare original copies of the file
against the compressed ones in Tokenized format. Note that in one
case the Tokenized file is larger than the original file. These
samples were made to be easy to understand and to determine if one
is decompressing files correctly. In normal circumstances one does
not make a member that is larger than the original file. This is
done to explain how to use the format, not for a 'real' compression.

The letter describing the specification is also in Word Perfect 4.1
format as 'KATZLETR.WPX.' The file 'APPNOTE.ADD' indicates new
material to be added to the file 'APPNOTE.TXT' which is released
by PKWARE, INC. The file 'SUMM.TXT' is the short version of the
specification. The MYZIP??? files are discussions about the member
format with various people.

and ends no earlier than June 1, 1991, and will be extended for
