Introduction
------------
The disk provided with this application note contains DOSSWAP.EXE, a
replacement for the DOSSWAP.EXE file that is included with MS-DOS
version 5.0. The replacement file corrects problems in the original
DOSSWAP.EXE file that causes Task Swapper in MS-DOS Shell to fail when
switching between some applications. In particular, the original
DOSSWAP.EXE does not swap expanded memory properly. This causes
problems when switching among two or more applications that use
expanded memory.
Replacing DOSSWAP.EXE
---------------------
Please follow these steps to update your DOSSWAP.EXE file:
1. Insert the enclosed PD0445 disk in floppy disk drive A.
2. At the command prompt, type the following and press ENTER
copy a:\dosswap.exe
where is the drive and directory where your MS-DOS
files are located. For example, if your MS-DOS files are located in
the DOS directory on drive C, type the following command:
copy a:\dosswap.exe c:\dos
NOTE: If you are copying DOSSWAP.EXE from a drive other than A,
substitute the appropriate drive letter for "a" in the above
command.
A message will be displayed stating: "1 file(s) copied." This
indicates your DOSSWAP.EXE file has been successfully replaced.
