DFX04.EXE and DFX04.ZIP

These README notes describe how to run the DFX04 patch to update your
DosFax PRO 2.0 installation from the February 18, 1993 release to the
June 22, 1993 release of the software.
What does the patch do?
-----------------------
This patch updates the February 18, 1993 release of DosFax PRO 2.0 to
provide the following enhancements and fixes:
a) Group Faxing
- Enhanced to ensure that fax is sent to all members when faxing to
groups from an application
- Eliminated "modem not responding" problem when faxing to groups
from DosFax Administrator
b) Printing
- Reduced printing times significantly
- Fixed margin problems when printing faxes to Epson 24-pin printers
- Improved support for Canon BJ-10e and Canon LBP-8 printers
c) Phonebooks
- Limited display of "Name" field to 31 characters to prevent
corrupted phonebook entries caused by names exceeding this length
- Eliminated character loss for comments broken over two lines when
importing ASCII files into phonebooks
Important steps before proceeding
---------------------------------
Before running the DFX04 patch, make sure you do the following.
1. Start up the DosFax PRO 2.0 Administrator to determine the release
date of your software.
a) At any DOS prompt, type ...
DOSFAX
... and press ENTER.
Note: If DosFax is not set in your path statement, change to the
directory where DosFax is installed, then perform this step.
b) If prompted about the DosFax TSR, you do not need to load it at
this time.
c) Open the Help menu in the DosFax Administrator, and select About.
d) If the date shown on the About screen is ...
February 18, 1993 Run this patch.
May 25, 1992 First, you must download and run the
DFX03 patch to update to the February 18
release. Then you can run DFX04.
August 12, 1992 First, you must download and run the
DFX02 patch to update to the February 18
release. Then you can run DFX04.
June 22, 1993 Do not run this patch; you are already
using the most current release to date.
2. Before running the DFX04 patch, you must set the default printer to
the Canon BJ-10e setting. From within DosFax Administrator, select File,
Program Setup, Printers and change the current printer to Canon BJ-10e.
3. Make a copy of this patch on disk keep it with your original DosFax
PRO installation disks. If you re-install DosFax, you will need to run
this patch again to update your sofware from the February 18, 1993
release to the June 22, 1993 release
Running the DFX04 patch
-----------------------
After reviewing the previous section of these README notes, perform the
following to run the patch and update your DosFax PRO 2.0 installation.
1. Copy the following patch files to the directory where DosFax PRO 2.0
is installed:
- PATCH.EXE (executable file for the patch)
- PATCH.RTP (data file required by patch.exe)
- PATCH.RTD (settings file required by patch.exe)
- README04.TXT (text file for these README notes)
These patch files were obtained when you decompressed the DFX04.EXE or
DFX04.ZIP patch.
2. Change to your DosFax directory where you copied the patch files.
3. To run the patch, type ...
PATCH
... and press ENTER.
The patch procedure may take several minutes. Please be patient.
4. To verify a successful update:
a) At any DOS prompt, type ...
DOSFAX
... and press ENTER to start DosFax Administrator.
b) Open the Help menu, and select About.
c) The update is successful if the new release date on the About screen
reads "JUN 22 1993".

This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.
