1001 PC Hints & Tips - includes Hints & Tips
on DOS Shortcuts, Windows Secrets, Word
Processing Tips, Hardware Hints, and more
from PC Computing.1001 PC HINTS AND TIPS FROM PC/COMPUTING is formatted to work under the
included ZVIEW document viewer. ZVIEW organizes the display of a great deal
of information into a structured, outline format, so that you can go right
to the tips you need.

TO INSTALL:

If your PC launches straight into Windows or another program, you'll need
to exit to the DOS prompt.

1. Create a directory on your hard drive called "PCCHINTS". From the DOS C:
prompt, type MD PCCHINTS.

2. Make "PCCHINTS" the active subdirectory. Type CD PCCHINTS.

3. Copy the contents of these disks into the "PCCHINTS" subdirectory. Place
disk 1 into your floppy drive, type COPY A:*.* (COPY B:*.* if appropriate)
and repeat with disk 2.

4. PCCHINTS should contain two .EXE files: 1001TIP1.EXE and 1001TIP2.EXE.
These files contain 1001 Hints and Tips in a compressed format. To
uncompress them, type each filename at the DOS prompt. First type 1001TIP1
and press Enter, then 1001TIP2 and Enter. You should now have two .ZDG
files, four .INI files, and ZVIEW.EXE. At this point, delete 1001TIP1.EXE
and 1001TIP2.EXE from your hard drive.

5. If you have a monochrome or LCD system, type DEL ZVIEW.INI. If you have
a monochrome system, type COPY MONO.INI ZVIEW.INI; for an LCD system, use
COPY LCD.INI ZVIEW.INI. To undo this change, type COPY COLOR.INI ZVIEW.INI.
