Tired of the hassles of planning a wedding? Engagements should be fun
for everyone involved. The Wedding Manager will make your preparations easier
by giving you fast, easy access to all of your plans. Who hasn't replied to
the invitations? How close am I to my budget? Who haven't I sent thank you
notes to? What item needs to be paid for next? Which guests am I missing
addresses for? How many are coming to the reception? What is the number to
my bridal shop? All these questions and more are handled easily and
automatically by The Wedding Manager.

Some Wedding Manager features:
o For each guest, the Guest List tracks name, address, phone number, type of
invitation, number attending, shower gift, and wedding gift.
o For each preparation, you can track completion date, status
(complete/incomplete), budget, deposit, actual cost, a phone number, and a
reminder note
o Powerful reporting and statistics for guest list and preparations
o Complete, interactive seating chart
o Questions to ask potential caterers, florists, musicians, etc
o Planning Check Lists (What to have done 3 months from the wedding, etc)

1.3 THE WEDDING MANAGER VERSION 4.5 LICENSE AGREEMENT

Please read and understand the license aggrement found in the file
WEDMAN.LIC.

2.0 INSTALLATION & GETTING STARTED

The ideal computer on which to run THE WEDDING MANAGER is one with a hard
drive, color monitor, and a printer. However, this configuration is not
required. An IBM or compatible personal computer (PC) with at least 640 KB of
memory (RAM) (with about 500 KB free) and DOS 3.3 or higher IS required.
Also, make sure your "Config.sys" file contains the statement FILES=30.
Perform the following installation instructions that best suit your needs.

2.1 INSTALLATION ON A HARD DRIVE

Create a directory on your hard drive for THE WEDDING MANAGER to reside
and copy ALL THE WEDDING MANAGER files into that directory. If you do not
know how to do this, refer to any DOS manual under the commands "MKDIR" or
"MD" (the make directory commands), "CHDIR" or "CD" (the change directory
commands), and "COPY", or ask assistance from a more experienced DOS user.
After copying the files, access the new directory with the "CHDIR" or "CD"
command to prepare to run THE WEDDING MANAGER.

NOTE
- One megabyte (MB) of hard drive space is recommended but not required to use
THE WEDDING MANAGER

2.2 INSTALLATION ON A FLOPPY DISK

Format a new floppy disk and copy ALL THE WEDDING MANAGER files onto that
disk. If you do not know how to do this, refer to any DOS manual under the
commands "FORMAT" and "COPY", or ask assistance from a more experienced DOS
user. After copying the files, access the new disk by typing A:
(assuming the new disk is in the "A" drive) to prepare to run THE WEDDING
MANAGER.

NOTE
* DO NOT "write protect" the new floppy disk
* A 720 KB or 1.44 MB 3.5" disk or a 1.2 MB 5.25" disk is recommended for
use
* A 360 KB 5.25" disk IS NOT recommended for use

2.3 RUNNING THE WEDDING MANAGER

Assuming you are in the correct drive and directory where THE WEDDING
MANAGER files reside, simply type WEDMAN at the DOS prompt.
Depending on the speed of your computer, THE WEDDING MANAGER will take 3 to 15
seconds to get up and running. Shortly, you will be presented with THE
WEDDING MANAGER Main Menu.

2.4 BACK-UPS

Needless to say, the information stored by THE WEDDING MANAGER is
precious. The loss of your wedding plans could cause unneeded headaches.
Therefore, it is highly recommended to regularly make backup copies of your
data. To do this, simply access the directory or disk that houses THE WEDDING
MANAGER. Next, place a blank, formatted floppy disk in your disk drive. Copy
the entire contents of THE WEDDING MANAGER directory onto that floppy disk.
Remove the floppy disk and label it appropriately. Now, if anything ever
happens to the working copy on your hard drive, you can simply copy the
contents of the floppy disk back to your working directory.

3.0 THE MAIN MENU

THE WEDDING MANAGER Main Menu is the central access point for all THE
WEDDING MANAGER functions. Display different pull-down menus using the arrow> and keys, highlight menu options with the and
keys, and select a menu option by pressing . The
following sections describe the pull-down menus and their options.

3.1 "UTILITIES" PULL-DOWN MENU

The options on the "UTILITIES" Pull-Down Menu are described below.

3.1.1 "PLANNING CHECKLIST" OPTION

This option gives you helpful information about when to perform certain
wedding preparations. For example, at two months before your wedding you
should make an appointment with your doctor for blood tests as well as shop
for wedding bands and have them engraved. These Checklists can be viewed and
printed. Checklists are displayed on-screen using a "List Viewer." NOTE: This
shareware version does not allow you to view the 1 Month and 1 Week
checklist.

3.1.2 "SELECT PRINTER" OPTION

printers are connected to that port. If you cannot receive printouts, try
selecting "LPT2." As you use THE WEDDING MANAGER, you will come across many
selection boxes similar to the "Select Printer Port" selection box. To choose
an option from one of these boxes use the and keys to

either viewed or printed. These questions are especially helpful for taking
notes when you are interviewing someone over the phone.

3.1.5 "THE BIG DAY" OPTION

4.0 FINAL REMARKS

I originally wrote this program for a computer science course. I was
engaged at the time and the professor gave the class an assignment to write a
database program. I came up with THE WEDDING MANAGER. That was in 1989 and I
have learned a lot about programming since then. I submitted version 1.0 for
grading; believe me, you wouldn't recognize that version and this version as
the same product. However, crude as it was, version 1.0 served its purpose.
I got my grade and I was able to manage my wedding effectively. Since 1989
this program has matured and evolved to the point where I feel comfortable to
release it to the public. I hope you find this program useful in planning
your wedding. If you have any suggestions for improvements, feel free to call
or write.

In closing, I would like to wish you the heartiest congratulations on
your impending marriage and the best of luck in the years to come. By the
way, THE WEDDING MANAGER makes a great address book after your wedding! July

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
