The program is very simple to use. Just type REFUND and the intro screen
you see below will be displayed. Use can use the arrow keys or PgUp/PgDn
to scroll through the text. When you are finished reading the intro, just
hit ENTER to continue. Then you will be prompted for a 2 letter state code
and a LAST NAME. There are some entries in the database where state info
is unavailable. If you would like to search these entries enter ?? for the
state code. Also Virgin Island entries are VI and Guam entries are GU.
When you have finished your entries press the F10 key to search for the
entries.

The information below can be viewed in the program when it starts, or after
it is running by pressing the F1 key.


GOVERNMENT REFUNDS

Many people throughout the United States have paid money to the government
for a variety of reasons. Some are due money for overpayment on taxes, bank
accounts which are inactive, estate settlements, insurance premiums etc..

This database contains over 50,000 people scattered all over the U.S. Guam,
Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands who have a refund coming and either have
moved, died or otherwise have not been notified. In many cases the
government agency responsible for holding this money will try and contact
the individual by mail. If the mail is lost or undeliverable for whatever
reason, you may be entitled to a refund and not even know it. Most of the
people in this database have been owed this money for many years. Some for
as long as 10 or 15 years. Some firms exist who obtain this data and charge
a fee to notify you that you have a refund coming. This fee usually ranges
from 10 to 15 percent of the total amount of the refund. This being the
case, most of these companies will not bother with refund amounts of $500.00
or less. The result is that many people are still owed money but nobody is
in a hurry to give it to you. What can you do?

HOW DO I USE THIS PROGRAM?

This program will allow you to search by STATE and LAST NAME to see if you
might be on this list. This list is only one source of money which is
available and by all means does not cover many other sources of money which
is being held by government agencies. Due to the un-organized nature in
which this particular agency enters data, many hours have been spent to
arrange the data in a manner which makes it suitable to search by computer.
The program will display a box in the center of the screen which asks for
the STATE you want to search followed by the LAST NAME you want to look for.
The name lookup uses a technique called soundex to search for matches based
on a sound alike convention. This will cause some names to be listed that
don't look anything like the name you entered. This is because of the
soundex algorithm and is not cause for concern. For example if you are
looking for a last name of SMITH located in California, you would enter:

State Code: CA
Last Name : SMITH

The system would respond with last names of SMITH, SMYTHE, SMITHE etc,.
In other examples however a last name of BELT would list BALT, BOLT, BOLTE,
BALTE and so forth.

WHAT IF I FIND MY NAME IN THIS DATABASE AND HAVN'T BEEN CONTACTED?

I'm glad you asked. If you find your name and current or former address on
this list, and you havn't previously been contacted by another agency,
here's what to do:

ENCLOSE A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER FOR $5.00 ALONG WITH THE FOLLOWING :

YOUR FULL NAME, CURRENT ADDRESS, CITY, STATE, ZIP, TELEPHONE NUMBER AND
PROOF OF IDENTITY. TELL US WHY YOU BELIEVE THE ENTRY YOU SAW IS REALLY YOU,
FOR EXAMPLE, YOU USED TO LIVE AT THE ADDRESS SHOWN, YOU PAID TAXES ON THIS
PROPERTY, ETC,. IN RETURN WE WILL SEND YOU THE PAPERWORK AND INFORMATION
YOU NEED TO PROCESS YOUR REFUND AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. YOU THEN SEND THIS
INFORMATION DIRECTLY TO THE AGENCY WHO HAS YOUR MONEY AND ONCE THEY HAVE
VERIFIED YOUR CLAIM, THEY WILL SEND YOU A REFUND CHECK DIRECTLY FROM THE
U.S. TREASURY. THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT.

If you want to try and locate people in your state, we will be glad to send
you a listing of all the people in your state except CA and NY for $20.00 on
a computer disk. Due to their size, CA and NY are $35.00. In addition we
