"Top 10", "Best Picture", "True Love", "Highly Recommended",
"James Bond", "Stephen King", "Underwater Movies" or any
other group of words you can think of.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .
~3 CATEGORY SEARCH SCREEN
The ImagiMOVIE GUIDE lets you search for movies
which qualify in up to three categories. Searching
for movies which qualify in only ONE category will
list more movies than a search which must qualify
in THREE categories.

FOR EXAMPLE:
Arrow over to COMEDY and press ENTER. You have
told the computer to search for ALL comedies
(LOTS of movies qualify).

2ND EXAMPLE:
Arrow over to COMEDY and press F7 Mark. Now
arrow over to FAMILY and press F7 Mark. You
have told the computer to search for all movies
which are BOTH comedies AND family movies (a
far fewer number will be found).

When you are done marking your selections, press
the ENTER key to begin your search.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .
~4 REVIEW SEARCH SCREEN
Some movies in the ImagiMOVIE GUIDE have been
categorized in on of three categories:
Good
Average
Poor

Movies categorized as "Good" are those movies which
were in the Top 10 in box office sales, were
nominated for or earned "Best Picture" by the
Motion Picture Academy, or were enjoyed very much
by the reviewer.

"Average" movies are generally enjoyable to watch
but are weak in one way or another.

We have tried to keep as many "Poor" movies out of
the ImagiMOVIE Guide as possible. These movies
have major flaws and should be avoided.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .
~5 ACTOR / ACTRESS SEARCH SCREEN
To highlight the name of the actress or actor you

their last name. For example, to search for all
Mel Gibson movies, type GIBS and arrow down to Mel
Gibson's name and press the ENTER key. To see a

Maureen O'Hara's name and press the F7 Mark key.

like other movies by the same director.

who like "old movies" or "recent releases".

1988 and press the ENTER key (the automatic "TO"
year is the present year).

~8 MPAA RATING SEARCH SCREEN
The MPAA rating has undergone several changes since
it was established in the mid 1960s, but is still
useful as a general guide. Movies which were
formerly rated "GP" we have rated "PG" and movies
which received the "M" rating we rated "PG-13".
"X" rated movies and recent movies which were
released in the movie theaters as "R", but came out
in video as "Not rated" to allow more sex or
violence we have generally rated as "NC-17"

EXAMPLE 1:
To search for all "R" rated movies, highlight the
"R" icon and press the ENTER key.

EXAMPLE 2:
To search for all "G", "PG" or "Not Rated" movies
(the movies which contain the least amount of
objectionable material), highlight the "G" icon and
press the F7 Mark key. Mark the "PG" icon in the
same way. When you are on the "Not Rated" icon,
press the ENTER key.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .
~9 KEY WORD SEARCH SCREEN
The key word search is perhaps the most flexible
and fun search to do because you can search for any
word, or consecutive group of words, which appears
in the synopsis or in any review. Each movie in
the ImagiMOVIE guide has several selections under
"Special Categories" to help you home in on your
specific interests such as "Disney Movies", "World
War II", "Creature Movies", "Dog Movies",
"Reincarnation", "Sequels", etc.

To display all the movies which sold more tickets
than all the others for each year, search for
"Number 1". Search for "Top 5" to display the five
top movies of each year.

It's fun to search for the name of your city or
state to see what movies were made in the area that
you live in. If you like the reviews of a
particular reviewer, search for that reviewer's
name. In short, you can search for just about
ANYTHING using the key word search.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .
~10 THE "NOW SHOWING" SCREEN
Press the UP ARROW to move to the previous movie,
and the DOWN ARROW to move to the next movie.
Press the F4 key to read a review on this movie.

If you have a MOUSE you can also do the following
searches from this screen:

KEY WORD SEARCH: Click the mouse on any word, or
between any two words to start a key word search.

ACTOR SEARCH: Click the mouse on the name of any
actor or actress to search for all the movies which
star that person. If there is a photo stored for
this actor it will be displayed on the screen.

DIRECTOR SEARCH: Click the mouse on the director's
name to search all movies which star this director.

CATEGORY SEARCH: Click the mouse on any of the
categories displayed on this screen to search for
all movies which belong to this category.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .
~11 THE PHOTO DISPLAY
Press the ENTER key to close actor's / actress's
photo window. If you are wondering why the
pictures aren't of a higher quality, it's because
the ImagiMOVIE Guide can currently display only 16
colors on the screen at one time. At sometime in
the future we will support Super VGA which can
display 256 colors at one time.

Press the ENTER key to continue . . .

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
