MSGSPLT

MSGSPLIT infile outfile [splitmark]

With no parameters, e.g., you get:

MSGSPLIT

by Rodney Grantham version 1.10

Usage: MSGSPLIT.EXE infile outfile [divider]

Splits files after 6000 lines at a SLMR/OLX or Bluewave header
You can provide your own split marker in quotes
At 7000 lines, the file is arbitrarily split.

Ever get your saved message file too big for your editor to handle?

This handy little program will break the file down into smaller
sections for handy editing. It is supposed to recognize BlueWave and
SLMR/OLX headers and split when the output file exceeds 6000 lines.

If neither of these headers is seen, it will split at 7000 lines. It
can therefore be used with any reader. The results just won't be as
neatly divided.

Version 1.10

o increase from 3000 to 6000 and from 4500 to 7000 lines for split

o add 3rd parameter- you can specify what to split on. If this has
blanks in it, enclose it in quotes

Execute as follows:

MSGSPLIT infile outfile [splitmark]

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
