The Major League Manager v1.0
Type 'CARDS' to run the program.
The main screen consists of the following options:
After loading the Sports Card Organizer, select option C
from the menu to do card maintenance. After doing so, you'll
notice that you have several options below the display
screen. They are as follows:
Add.............Add a new card.
Next............Move to the next card.
Previous........Move to the previous card.
Copy............Copy the current record.
Find............Find a specific card or range of cards.
Goto............Go to a specific record number.
Edit............Edit a card's information.
Delete..........Delete a card from the database.
Quit............Return to the main screen.
Reindex.........Reindex files and restore default index.
Top.............Move to the first record in database.
Bottom..........Move to the last record in database.
Add a Card
After selecting 'A' for Add, an input screen will
appear. Input the card information from the keyboard and
press the PgDn key to exit and save. You can also press the
ESC to abort data entry. In either case, the program will
Add Another? (Y/N)
Response with just a 'Y' for yes or a 'N' for no.
Notice that after you return from the Add Card screen,
the card you just added is now the active record and is
displayed on the screen.
After selecting 'N' for Next, the next record in the
index will appear on the screen. If you're at the end of the
card database and press the 'N' key, you'll notice that a
window in the middle of the screen will appear and display
the message 'Last Record'.
After selecting 'P' for Previous, records that are in
front of the active record will appear. The [P]revious Key
works exactly opposite the way the [N]ext Key operates. If
you're at the beginning of the card database and press the
'P' key, you'll notice that a window in the middle of the
screen will appear and display the message 'First Record'.
The [C]opy function will create a duplicate record of the
current record that is copied. After the record has been
copied, the copied record will now display on the screen.
The [F]ind function allows you to locate a specific card
or range of cards in your database. After pressing the 'F'
key, type in the year of the card, the card manufacturer, and
the player's name, or any combination of the three fields.
If you type for the year '1984' and for the card manufacturer
'TOPPS', the first card matching that criteria will display.
You can display additional cards matching that criteria by
just pressing the 'N' key for next record.
There are five indexes associated with your card
database. These indexes help you locate cards faster and
also help speed the report printing process. The default
index is in order of Year, Card Manuf, and then Player. When
you press 'F' for find and input the search criteria, the
fields that you input determine which index is to be active.
If you know the record number of the card you want
displayed, press the 'G' key for the Goto function. After
pressing the 'G' key, enter the record number of the card and
then press the Enter key.
Note: If you've deleted some records and then preformed File
Maintenance from the Main Screen, records tagged for deletion
will be permanently deleted and some card records will change
record numbers. The record number of a record should not be
confused with the Card Number of a card.
The Edit function allows you to change existing
information within a specific card's record. After pressing
the 'E' key for Edit, you can press the Enter key or the down
arrow key to move down and the up arrow key to move up. If
you're done modifying a record, you can either press the
Enter key until you're out of Edit mode or press the PgDn key
to return to the bottom. If you press the ESC key (escape
key), you will exit Edit mode without saving any of the
changes to the record.
The Delete function will allow you to tag a record for
deletion. If you press the 'D' key while displaying a record
on the screen, a small delete flag will appear right above
the word [D]elete on the bottom of the screen. If you press
the 'D' key again while displaying the same record, the
delete flag will disappear and the record will no longer be
tagged for deletion.
By pressing the 'Q' key for Quit, you will return to the
main screen of the program.
The Re-index function performs two functions. First, it
re-indexes all of the indexes associated with the card
database. Secondly, it restores the default index which is
an index sorted by YEAR, by CARDMFG, and then by PLAYER.
Select 'T' for Top if you want to move to and display
the first record of the database.
Select 'B' for Bottom if you want to move to and display
the last record of the database.
If you select 'F' from the main screen, all records
tagged for deletion will be deleted and all of the indexes
will be re-indexed.
Select 'S' from the main screen to display collection
Calculates values for your entire collection.
Calculates total purchase value, total current value, percent
and dollar increases, total number of cards in collection,
and also the average value of each card.
Select 'R' from the main screen to display the Reports
input screen. Simply input the search criteria for data that
you want displayed. After inputing the search criteria, you
can display the card data on the screen or print it out to
your printer. If you select 'P' for printer, insure that
your printer is turned on and on-line.
You can print reports by Player, Team, Year, Sport, Card
Manufacturer or by Quanity of Card on Hand. (Or any
combination of the above.)
The program will calculate subtotals and totals for
Quanity of Cards, Purchase Price and Current Total Price on
all printed reports that you create. This Report Generator
is great for creating printed want-list and equally helpful
for displaying those duplicate cards you have for trade.
