CHANGE DATE FORMATS

With this utility you can modify the date format used by "JOB
COST" to be that of any of several national standards. This
function was installed to address the needs of users outside of
the U.S.A.

Upon selecting this function you will be displayed a special
screen listing the various national date formats available. (This
display may not mention your specific nationality but does cover
all known date formats.) Select the format you wish to use by use
of the arrow keys and press . This will modify your system
configuration to that of the selected date format and will
maintain this format selection until you change it again. All
displays and listings will now utilize the selected date format.

UPDATE PERSONALIZATION INFORMATION

With this function you can update your business name and address
information and enter your "USER REGISTRATION NUMBER". Keep in
mind that your "USER REGISTRATION NUMBER" is based upon your
business name. Any change you make to your business name after
receiving your registration number will make the current number
invalid. Even the changing from upper to lower case in name
spelling and the addition/deletion of spacing will make this
number invalid.

Upon selection of this function you will be presented a special
display screen that will show you your current personalization
information. Just type over the current display with the new
information. Upon finish just press the key.

PRINT USER REGISTRATION FORM

With this function your "JOB COST" system will print out a "USER
REGISTRATION FORM" to be completed and mailed (with requested
registration fee of $45.00) to Micro Data Assist. Be sure that
you have properly setup your "PERSONALIZATION INFORMATION" before
you request the printing of this form. KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR
REGISTRATION NUMBER IS BASED UPON YOUR BUSINESS NAME AS YOU HAVE
IT CURRENTLY SETUP. ANY CHANGE MADE TO YOUR BUSINESS NAME AFTER
REGISTRATION WILL MAKE YOUR REGISTRATION NUMBER INVALID.

Upon selecting this function you will be requested to turn your
printer on. No other information is needed other that for you to
finish filling out this form and mailing it, along with the
requested registration fee of $45.00, to Micro Data Assist, 2701-
C, West 15th, #149, Plano, Texas 75075.

DATA FILE FORMATS

The following data file formats are provided to aid those of you
that wish to extract information from your data files and produce
custom reports. Please make a copy of any data file you plan to
modify and work on the copy only. If you must make a change to a
working data base structure please RE-INDEX your data files prior
to using them again. DO NOT CHANGE THE NAMES, CHARACTERISTICS, OR
SIZE OF ANY FIELDS THAT ALREADY EXIST WITHIN YOUR DATA FILES.

JCMASTER.DBF - This is your job master header. Contents of these
records summarize the total job status. There is only one
JCMASTER record for each job on file.

JCCENTER.DBF - These records are your cost center masters.
Information contained within these records summarize the budget,
expenses posted to date, and completion status of each cost
center. There is only one record per job/cost center/change order
on file.

JCEXPEDT.DBF - This is a temporary expense file used only for
your EXPENSE EDIT/POST cycle. Upon posting of the records
contained within this file to your 'JCCENTER.DBF' all of these
records are then appended to the JCEXPHIS.DBF data file. Upon
completion of the posting cycle this file is deleted and
recreated with zero entries ready for the next edit cycle.

JCEXPHIS.DBF - This is your expense history data file. All posted
expense records end up in this file.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
