1. Here's a long description of FAC:

Find Area Code (FAC) is a TSR-capable MSDOS utility which
can quickly locate U.S. and international telephone area
codes. FAC performs its search using any part of an area
code, city, state, or country and shows matches almost
instantly. FAC also has a very powerful "fuzzy search"
mode which allows you to use sound-alike spellings. FAC
uses a data file which you can modify in any way. FAC can
run from the MSDOS command line or you can make it go
memory resident (TSR). FAC can operate in as little as 7K
of RAM using expanded (EMS) memory or disk for swapping.

2. Please use FAC165.ZIP as the filename. Here's a short description:

"Find Area Code; 7K TSR, freeform/fuzzy searches; 2000 US & Int'l Cities"

A PCBoard compatible file description (8 lines x 45 char) can be
found in the accompanying file, FILE_ID.DIZ

3. Suggested keywords: FAC TSR FIND AREA CODE TELEPHONE ASP PHONE SEARCH

4. Category: Telephone, Desktop, TSR, Productivity Tools

Thanks for posting FAC on your BBS!

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
