Installing Disk Optimizer.

You should put an ORDER.DOG in the root directory of each hard disk.
See the sample ORDER.DOG file.

You should also put the command:

SET DOG=d:\path\DEFAULT.DOG

into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and put a file like the sample
DEFAULT.DOG file in that sub-directory.

DEFAULT.DOG will then be used for floppy disks that do not have an
ORDER.DOG file.

d: = a drive letter. (A:,B:,ect.).

\path\ = a sub-directory.

You can run DOG without setting the DOG= environment string by using
the command:

DOG NUL

NUL being the DOS built in empty file.

  1. Very nice! Thank you for this wonderful archive. I wonder why I found it only now. Long live the BBS file archives!

  2. This is so awesome! 😀 I’d be cool if you could download an entire archive of this at once, though.

  3. But one thing that puzzles me is the “mtswslnkmcjklsdlsbdmMICROSOFT” string. There is an article about it here. It is definitely worth a read: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/mtswslnk/
