What is ScreenMap GUIDE ?
-------------------------

ScreenMap GUIDE is a user-friendly program designed to find streets and
display them quickly on your computer screen. You can also extract map
data into AutoCad's DXF file and use your favorite CAD programs or
drawing programs import DXF files into street map file.

The major features include:

o Easy change to different maps
o Find street by name and address
o Show block by row#, col# and # of blocks
o Find features by their segment#
o Easily view blocks moving operation
o Screen dump maps to a printer
o Provide utility program to extract area map to AutoCad's DXF format
files which can be used by CAD or drawing programs. This capability
will let you create a nice looking area map. Another option will
let you output street coordinates in longitude and latitude to a text
file.

What types of ScreenMap map files are available today?
------------------------------------------------------

Every county of the U.S.A. is available from ScreenMap Co. We call them
ScreenMap COUNTY FILE.

Each ScreenMap COUNTY FILE contains digital county map data, including
highways, highway names, streets, street names, water boundaries, railroad
tracks, county boundaries, and address ranges on most of the street segments
for an entire county. COUNTY FILE sizes can reach over 10 MB for the
largest county (for example, Los Angeles County around 11 MB), but most of
the files are less than 5 MB.

All of the map files are extracted from 1990 Topologically Integrated
Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) files which have been reorganized
to make the map files compact and easy to search. TIGER files are
computerized census data for the entire United States, developed by the U.S.
Census Bureau to provide street address and other census data.

System Requirements:
--------------------

ScreenMap GUIDE requires the following minimum hardware configuration:

o IBM PC/XT/AT/PS2 or compatible with a minimum of 640K of RAM.

o One high-density floppy drive (5 1/4" - 1.2 Mb) and a hard disk.

o DOS 3.0 or later.

o VGA graphics adaptor and monitor. (**** Note: We only support VGA ****)

ScreenMap GUIDE also supports the use of an optional math coprocessor

and LaserJet or Epson-compatible dot matrix printer.

How to install the program ?
----------------------------

To install the program, create a directory called \SMAP on your

hard disk and copy all the files into that directory.

How to run the program from DOS?
--------------------------------

To run the program, change directory to where the directory created,

then enter: SMAP

or enter SMAP 11001

Note: You can have the PATH= statement point to the directory you just
created and then run the program without changing to that directory.

When you get to the map screen, please hit F1 to get a very detail
information on how to use the product.

To extract map data into DXF files, you need enter: SMAPOUT.

These programs are very user-friendly. You should be able to master
all features of the programs in few minutes.

These programs are heavy disk usage type of programs. Disk-caching utility
like SMARTDrive can speed up program execution quite a bit.

How to run the program from Microsoft Window?
---------------------------------------------

ScreenMap GUIDE can be run under real mode, standard or enhanced mode.

To set it up in Window, select Program Manager's FILE/NEW,
then select program item and enter the following data:

Command Line: C:\smap\smap 11001

Network Operation
-----------------

ScreenMap GUIDE can be installed on a network file server and run on
client PCs. A site licencse may be required for multiple PCs.

Registration
------------

If you use this product, please send us a $25 contribution for registration
per county map. (Texas residents add applicable sale tax.)

Registering your program will entitle you to obtain notice of updates and
enhancements and other products from us. We need your contribution to keep
us going and serving you.

If you want any other county map files, we will be glad to send you disketts
for $40 per county (this covers $25 for registration fee and $15 for shipping/
handling). For example, if you want us send you LA and Orange County files
of California, please send us $80 for two counties. We have all the county
map files for the U.S.A to serve you.
