Two programs: a directory changer and a directory tree lister. Both a little different than most.

Full Description of File

TOTRE Utilities are two very handy
programs. TO.EXE is simply the fastest
and best directory changer around.
FTREE.EXE goes beyond your typical
tree program. It displays the space
used in each directory and subdirectory.
Fully Functional ASP Sharware.

OVERVIEW
The TOTRE Utilities are two simple programs that were written to
do specific things that I wanted. They consist of two handy programs.

TO.EXE -- A fast directory changer
FTREE.EXE -- A specialized tree program

The main reason that I wrote these utilities is that the
available programs to do the same things were either too complex
or they didn't function exactly the way I wanted. These programs
have few options. No complex command line switches to remember.
Quick and simple. That's the premise behind TOTRE.

ABOUT TO.EXE

TO.EXE is an extremely fast and flexible directory changer. It
will change directories across drives. You specify which drives
you want to keep track of and to will create a text file
containing the directory names. This file is stored in the root
directory of the drives you specify. TO will work with network
drives. TO will default to drive C for file storage if not
reconfigured. To configure TO for use, change to the directory
where you have TO.EXE stored and enter

TO

you will be asked to specify the drive where TO will store its
information file. TO will then store this information in itself
so it knows where to look for the directory file. If you have
compressed the TO.EXE file, you will get an error message. You
must configure the UNcompressed .EXE file.

Next, you must tell TO to scan the drives and create a directory
list. The proper format is TO /. For example

TO /cde

TO will then scan drives C D & E and write the data to the drive
you specified.

After creating the directory list, you may use TO's excellent
'fuzzy' search routines to switch directories or you may enter
the complete directory name.

Assume you had a directory list similar to this:

C:\TC\BIN
E:\FUTILS
D:\UTILITY
D:\NORTON\UTILITY

In order to change to the C:\TC\BIN directory you would enter any
unique string contained in the pathname. you could enter
TO bin or TO tc

and TO would search the directories for the one that matches
your specification. If it is the only match, TO will change to
that directory. If there are more than one match, TO will open a
window and display UP TO 15 possible choices. Highlight the
directory of your choice, press RETURN and TO will change to that
directory. If there are more than 15 choices, try to define a more
unique string. For example, if you wanted to change to the
D:\UTILITY directory and you entered

TO UTIL

a window would open displaying

E:\FUTILS
D:\UTILITY
D:\NORTON\UTILITY

since they all contain the string 'UTIL'. You could highlight
the proper selection and press return and TO would take you
there. Until you've used a program like TO you don't know how
cumbersome the old CD method really is.

ABOUT FTREE.EXE

FTREE is a handy little program that graphically displays the
directory tree of the selected drive and shows the disk space
used by each directory. Output may be redirected to a file or the
print device for hard copy.

FTREE

will display the tree of the default drive. To select a different
drive for processing you would enter

FTREE E: <-- colon is required

to scan drive E:.

To print a handy tree map of your hard disk, you can enter

FTREE >PRN

to send output to the print device. If you have a large drive you
might want to output the tree to a disk file.

FTREE E: >filename

will output the tree from drive E: to 'filename'.
